Dontknow

One of our neighbors just had his roof replaced and the other is currently having his siding replaced due to some hail storm that must have happened when we were out of town.

Unless pea sized- penny sized hail can do damage? We did have a few storms last year with that, but I can't imagine it actually doing anything.

Our slate siding is all cracked and broken in a lot of places so we were going to replace it with vinyl siding, but one of the neighbors said we should file a claim since it was more than likely caused by the hail.
Does that even sound possible? laugh out loud
It wouldn't hurt to look into it, you're paying for home owner's insurance, might as well ask.
Quote from Maleficent :
Yeah, absolutely. I'd talk to your insurance agent about it. That's the biggest thing we get homeowners claims here for - hail damage.
Mine ended up being covered under wind/hail damage, and she seems to get a lot of the same weather as I do.

I'm sure that poor turkey suffered irreparable emotional trauma! For shame! Nono1

Closest call I've had yet with one of them, though. A couple years ago when we got all that snow dumped on us, I passed a flock of them just walking down the street laugh out loud
LMAO That's awesome.

I had that happen once, but with geese! You know where Arapahoe Rd and Clinton is? There was a whole group of them that just decided to walk across Arapahoe Rd in a snow storm. Across six lanes of traffic! Roll

Weird thing to see in suburbia. laugh out loud

I'd expect quarter sized hail and larger to damage stuff, but not pea- penny sized laugh out loud

I might look into it. Thanks Blowkiss

You'd be surprised how much it can wear on your roof/siding!

You should, especially since you're looking at getting it replaced. Would be nice if they'd pay all or a good chunk of it!

And especially with hail storms, they're usually "catastrophe" claims, so having a claim for a hail storm won't count against you, which is nice. Big Grin

I even got a vent fan/light installed in my bathroom (which I'd been planning on doing anyway) since the leaky roof dripped through and shorted out my old light fixture woot
Didn't have a vent in there before. Told roof guy, he put the vent in while they were doing the roof, and since the other guys were already taking out the old fixture, it was minimal effort to add the duct.

I'll lose my "no claims filed" discount, but still cheaper than a new roof, etc Prop

Yeah, no kidding. And I'd check with your insurer. If it's a CAT claim, it shouldn't count against you for discounts.

Indeed it is! Woot Just make sure you know the date of the hail storm. (I'm not sure how long you were out of town.)
