I'm a optician and we take Medicaid for glasses. I see a lot of people who come in with 4 or more kids. What upsets me is often the kids have different last names. (like 3 or more different last names) Most of the moms are really young. I just feel sad that its the kids who will suffer in most cases. Never enough money, not knowing their fathers, lack of stability in their life's.
I do have limited conversations with the moms. They often tell me they have no extra money to spend on anything other then what Medicaid will pay. Due to the father or fathers lack of support.
Just venting. Had a young mom with 5 kids yesterday and 4 had different fathers. She broke down and cried when her kids had to wear the frames that Medicaid would pay for. (kinda ugly frames IMO). Her oldest child was trying to comfort her.
My heart was broken. If I had money to spare, I would have purchased the frames for the kids myself.

Its like putting your legs behind your head.
Of course, I can't complain about the purchase. But, it just bothers me that they're taking advantage of the social programs out there when they obviously don't need it. From what I've seen, they're often workers in the beauty industry and work for only cash. So, on paper, they have little or no income. Hence, they can qualify for government aid.
Or, when I get ppl with Medi-Aid who choose an expensive $300+ eyeglass frame and expects Medi-Aid to pay for it 100%! And, they'll get angry when we tell them they do not!

Kids being raised without fathers is probably one of the top 3 reasons our society has declined so much in the last 50 years. That's just my opinion.

I wouldn't feel badly. A lot of people don't want to be held responsible for the choices that they make in life. 5 kids with four different baby daddies is not an "accident".
Additionally, you would be surprised what Medicaid patients can afford. I've seen them on their iPhone 4's with their kids playing Nintendo 3ds's.
IIRC cupcake, your husband is AD AF. At the end of the day, the people in power in Washington have no problem taking your husbands benefits away so that they can give more to people who continually make bad choices or don't want none of that responsibility thing.
