I always think of Max Chilton when he was on the weird races on BBC's top gear: "Max Chilton: hair styling legend" along with all the other guys like "touring car legend", etc... laugh out loud

any news on HRT? will they even race in 2013?
laugh out loud

HRT is out. Thought I'd posted that a while back but don't see it. Must have been that day SD kept going down. Oh wait, isn't that everyday? Hide

One of their suppliers said a few days ago that HRT went into liquidation back in Nov.

Formula 1 could feature 11 teams next season after struggling Spanish-based HRT were not included on the official entry document for 2013. [bbc.co.uk]

HRT out = great 2 speedbumps gone from the track.

KK should look for a test drive instead of just giving up. You never know what's going to happen to the 2 drivers.

I hope Lewis doesn't pull rank and Rosberg and try to divide/bully the team. I also want to see his development skills/ setup skills. Interesting as Norbert Haug is out at Mercedes now. What does Brawn have left in the tank.

Too bad Massa couldn't have turned it on the whole season instead of the last 1/3 of the season. Looks like with a good car he's capable of winning again + he needs to get that favor back from Fernando.

yeah, even the most casual observer at the USGP who'd never watched an F1 race before in their lives knew HRT wasn't even close to keeping up with the pack... probably won't be missed that much. shake head

What bothers me is Bernie keeps saying that not all of the European races are guaranteed, that there needs to be fewer races there. It's probably just posturing so Bernie can squeeze more money of of them but it makes me nervous. Don't want to lose any races from the season.

I don't think we'll lose any from 2013, but in future years, maybe Dontknow

it's hard to trust Bernie, it seem clear the sport is for sale to the highest bidders. There's no sense about the sanctity of the sport (ironically, I read a very good article saying about the same thing about Hockey today). Sport seems to require a certain degree of socialism, it feels like sport as a business model is going to break down eventually as everyone gets squeezed to the margin.

Bernies got to make room for Russia, USGP #2 sooner or later and Mexico City after Serigo starts podiuming regularly. Surprised Bernie hasn't said anything about Maldinado's win and a need for a 2nd S American race in Venezuela. I hope if any race goes in Europe it's Valencia the pho~Monaco. Maybe get rid of Bahrain.

the new jersey race is postponed to 2014, according to Bernie. too far behind on financing or something. Encouraging comments about how they weren't prepared for how difficult it would be to prepare to host a race. Ermm at this point, I'd given odds on the race happening about anywhere else in the US vs. happening in NY.

Also, no European GP on the 2013 calendar:

Japan is a great country and great history but without a team or a driver, I wonder about it's ability to stick around. Bahrain could go easily, too.
