It knocks your score down and depending on your current score it could mean 1/8 or 1/4 of a percent higher, which if you amortize it, depending on your loan size, could be in the thousands you'd be losing versus making $300 here and losing thousands due to a small decrease in your credit score. I only know of one score that was disclosed to me and that threshold is 740, if you get 739, it could cost you 1/4 point. and opening a cc could bring your score down by as much as 30 points (this happened to me, but I opened like 2 cards). Also, in refinancing or financing a house, they take the lowest score, this is from my experience also, maybe different lenders are different, not sure, just basing on my experience. If your score is like 800, then you have nothing to worry about.
You will receive 30000 pts that you can redeem as cash or gift cards. Most of the time the gift cards are credited at at discount so you can get a $25 gift card for $22.50 (2250) pts. You can also use the points to shop in the Chase Rewards store. This is a very good program.
where does it say that i am eligible for the 300 dollars back promo? I am assuming when i get the card in the mail it will say.
Thanks OP! Got instant approval after I was rejected less than 2 months ago! When I first got rejected my report was only showing one BOA cc but for this attempt it also showed my American Express cc and I'm pretty sure that's the only difference that got me approved this time. Repped
Crap! I forgot about this: "Remember: always take a screenshot of your application to make sure that you get your 300$ cashback!".
I only did a "save as pdf" but somehow it did not save that part about the $300 cash-back. Can you guys help me figure it out. Did anyone apply before for an offer like this one, get approved and NOT get that $300 credit back? If so, what did you do?
Thanks
IIRC cancelling a card dings your credit only in the short term but it recovers pretty quickly if you have no other credit events. If you want to keep the card make sure it is set at a low credit limit and make like 1 purchase a month just to keep the thing semi-active.
Why low credit limit ? If you keep the limit higher and don't have a balance it will help your utilization rate in a positive way towards your credit score.
got this last time it was posted. anyone know how long it takes to get the $300? i ended up spending way more than $500 within a span of a month, and now i gotta pay it off. looks like they got me, hahaha.

I'd also recommend getting an Amex for big ticket electronics - they double the warranty (for example, my Dyson warrantied for 10 years!).
IIRC, they double the warranty for warranties under one year and then just add another year if its more than a year.
