RETIRED Marlboro Outwit the West Funny Farm

228 92 October 16, 2010 at 01:35 PM
Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

I put a section of temp chainlink fence in my veggie garden (years ago) for the cukes to climb on. Works well ! They don't really take up any space that waynod
I plant cucumbers next to my tomato plants and they grow up the tomatoe stakes along with the tomatoes

Really ? If I did that I think the cukes would choke out the tomatoes. My toms usually climb out and over the cages, that's with pinching off the suckers, and I added to the cages to make them taller. and the cukes completely engulf the fence I plant them at the base of.

The furniture prize I won from homefurnishings.com is turning out rather odd. When the fellow called Tuesday he said the retailer I picked on my entry "has chosen not to participate" - the rules state ...awarded in the form of a credit at the participating HomeFurnishings.com furniture retailer of winner's choice. I gave him a new choice but now he wants me to pick three retailers and they will "contact them in order to secure their agreement to fulfill the prize". The problem is that the options are rather thin with most of the remaining stores selling goods of questionable quality. Doesn't sound like winners choice to me. I really don't want to to decline the prize but may have to end up doing so. Kinda stinks.
Wow, thats too bad!! I hope you can get something worked out Smilie

cwhetme, Sprokitz, and Vegas 123-thank-you for the gardening advice.

Just opened an e-mail from Bush's bean and there is a $1.50/1 coupon on the FB page for one can of Bush's Sweet Mesquite Grilling Beans. You can print 2 ea.

http://www.facebook.com/bushbeans

Hurry!
Thanks, I had uninstalled the coupon printer cause it didn't work for me, so now when I try to reinstall it, it won't let me, but gives me the option of having the coupons mailed to me......I like that.....not using up my ink.

Oooh YES! Thank-you. Maybe I'll have room to put a few flowers in between my veggies.
No marigolds (umm dandelion cousinsSmilie ) though, the slug monsters eat those. There is one squirrel who has a running battle with my cat-I'll call her to chase him whenever I see him (he cusses at us from the fence) the cat is VERY patient and has almost gotten him a few times-he missed the tree branch on the other side of the privacy fence twice last year LMAO

So far, the rabbits haven't gotten back in this year and the multitude of chipmunks knows to stay out.
Birds, bees, butterflies and the pet spider by the door are welcome.

cwhetme and bornblondeey, I've been "gardening" more this year too. The difference is that I only have 15' x 30' in the back to "play" with because I live in a condo. I extended the flower bed on the one side to reach the clematis vine on the other. Originally because my Uncle gave me an azalea for Easter and I decided to put it in the back. The beds are edged in stone, so I still need to buy a few more to finish the 2nd row (thought it was better to have at least one row to enclose the bed.) Instead of planting my tomato/cucumbers in with the flowers, I put them in the new area with some sweet peppers. Someone suggested putting the cucumbers up a trellis, so I'll try that with one and see how well that works. The others can stay on the ground.
I envy you both for having more yard, but at the same time, I'm glad I don't have the work.

Good Luck to all!
Won a Hasbro Deluxe Battleship game from the Nabisco contest this morning:
http://brands.nabisco.com/seeksna...microsite/
You're allowed to win one prize in each catagory, I won the movie tickets a while ago-they have to be printed by Sept 30 and are good through 12/31/2012. I'm not certain if they have to be used on Battleship-they are Hollywood Movie money. The other prizes are a K'nex Battleship and a $5 coupon for any Nabisco product.

3 years ago, I bought one strawberry plant (with 3 in the single tub-have to slickdeal here). I always try to buy plants with multiples, then I soak them in a bucket and gently pull them apart. I put one in each of the 3 flower beds. This year, I have more than 20 plants and have had strawberries for breakfast for the last 4 days!!
Congrats and TY for link!!

Wow I just got a letter and $10.00 Walmart GC from the American Cancer Society.
Says: Congratulations on completing you cancer screening! You have taken an important step towards finding cancer early. Please except this gift card from us as a thank you for making this important lifesaving step.

That makes having the Mammogram a little easier each year if they are going to send me a GC. LOL
Wow, Thats cool Jules, Congrats Smilie
