Proof that I'm not as old as most of you think.

Well, maybe I still am...

But today I made my first deposit of a paper check into my online bank account using my cell phone to snap a pic of the check. Whee

I'm using ING...been waiting a while for them to roll out their mobile deposits.

Each UPC that can be scanned for purchase is an item. The cashier still has to count them even if they don't scan them. If you have five cans of beans, it is five items.

Exceptions are bundled/bound multiple items such as a flat of 20 cat food cans. The flat has its own UPC code.

Picca would be counting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 on the baked beans nod

One bulk pack of toilet paper with 12 rolls equals 1 item, not 12 separate items.

Picca counts out loud at the Express Line when people go over the limit, as
Picca does not go over the limit. Picca will check herself out at the self-check
out registers - before going over the "limit" at the Express line.

What about a bulk bag I put 6 rolls in? Cashier still has to count, 1 UPC code.

Quote from Piccaboo :
That would be the same as hand picking tomato's and putting them in a plastic bag in the veggie department - it would count as "one item" - but canned items are not the same thing you do not hand pick them and put them in a bag - such as tomato's and/or rolls like you are stating - and either of these two mentioned items are either weighed or counted and charged by the number - but still need bagged - because of "sanitary reasons" - most would never put a couple of "rolls" in their cart - nor tomato's - without bagging them first. Most different than a " bulk item" already pre-wrapped as such as well.
How is five cans with the same barcode different than six rolls in a bag with the same barcode? In both cases the cashier has to count the items then hit the multiply button.

I'm sort of a Philly Chica - if I can drive in downtown Philly like they do - yep - come up against me in bad traffic where people are trying to cut me off - same with downtown Washington, D.C. - puk that - I drive like the Roman's do in Rome - and puk that - if someone like a Taxi Cab decides THEY are going to try to cut me off in my Lincoln Nono2 I do not typically do road rage, but don't puk with me on the road - I'm older - I have better insurance "Green Fried Tomato's" Bleh Bleh

Still want to play with me Coverlaugh
I would suggest you never visit Seattle, your head would explode. laugh out loud

Around here people let each other into lanes and almost never honk their horn. I've seen lines of traffic waiting patiently for up to 30 seconds for the person in front to realize the light had turned green. Then it's just a polite tap. In fact it's so rare to hear a car horn here that it startles you when you do hear one. True story.

Portland is similar...people very rarely use their horns. And they almost always let people merge or turn onto a road from a street/parking lot/etc. Very polite drivers!

Seattle may be laid back, but Philly driving is hard core laugh out loud as is Washington D.C. during rush hour especially. It amazes me where I'm at right now how polite the driver's are to others, honestly. They are not like that where I'm at, and driver's are quite aggressive. You don't hear a lot of horn honking, but people will in their own fashion let you know how they feel about you cutting them off nod

I'm way more laid back in my driving now, than I was when I was younger nod

I was talking about self-checking out - but even with the cashier checking you out in the express lane - they normally can quickly eye that bag up and key it in - but with the cans - they have to scan each and every one - that is different than a bag of 6 rolls hand picked out of the bakery department "bin", jmho.

Care to explain to me how taking a pic of a check and uploading it to your bank via 3G/LTE is less secure than any other method of deposit? Scratchchin
Seriously???
I take a check into the bank with a deposit slip, give it to the teller, they enter the deposit directly into the banks computer and I get a receipt with my ending balance. No account numbers or other info floating around cyberspace or over cellular airwaves for any half-assed hacker to steal. Of course there is a possibility for a bank's computer to get hacked, but I assume it's WAY more secure than my computer or cell phone and I've got statements & receipts as proof.

And this:

Why did you deposit yesterday if you wanted to withdraw tomorrow Huh
Cause once you ditch brick and mortar banks there's no other way to turn a check into cash.

I recall you mentioning the counting out loud in the express lane in a more recent thread, but this was the one that came up in the search...

That would be 5 items...if they were packaged together (like 6 rolls of paper towels), then would count as one item.
that is 1 item, baked beans. how is that 5 items? 5 cans, yes, of the same item. ONE item. Annoyed

No it's not Annoyed

If you brought 35 cans of baked beans through the express lane, which is only for 12 items; you are WRONG!!!! Most people can't even remember how many they pulled from the shelf for the cashier to ring it up properly, so she would have to ring up 35 individually. YOU ARE OVER THE LIMIT Chairbash Besides she has to bag them; so she has to ring them up individually - get your ass over to the self-check out lane Bonk

I find it hilarious that peeps can disagree over what would one would think would be such a simple definition of "item" in a sign that indicates "10 items or less/fewer"

See I rarely use the Express Lane; I detest other people bagging my groceries. I would much rather go through the check yourself out lanes; and do it myself and pack things the way I want. So go for it Cool
