Home security Cameras

So, There's been deers eating up the front garden, "I think"

I just got a couple questions for people that have surveillance setup in their homes.

How much data is outputted by one of these cameras for 24/7 month, can it be set to constant bitstream or variable?

Do they make motion tracking camera that follows the object in motion? <-and does this type of system cost an arm and a leg?

What kind of resolution is considered good?

No need to have 30fps. even 1 fps is plenty. WIth multiple cameras the computer will be tasked with heavy cpu power to process all those video feeds if in the highest detail.

Isn't there something that repels deer? That seems the easier choice IMO.

get a dash cam. i have a dash cam that records 20 min videos... when the memory gets full, it just delete the oldest 20 min video and creates a new 20 min video. Never have to erase unless i need to pull a video off of it.

Motion sensor on any camera kinda sucks. It would have to be like 1-2 feet in front to actually capture the motion. for both my security camera and dash cam. Infrared is crap too. If u are lookin for a set, plan to spend at least $300 for it. anything cheaper is just crap...

wait, hang on, 2 feet, motion detection recording? It's not by pixel? Are you sure it's this bad, Frown

Well, I mean I know the deer goes for a specific bush and shrub, maybe if I put the camera right next to them, it'll at least catch the deer in action.

But you're sure that they can't use "motion enabled" recording from more than 2 feet away? Frown

I have 6 cameras recording 24/7 into a dvr. I get close to 3 weeks on a 1tb drive.

Yes, they have cameras that will track an object but that will cost you lots of $$$$

Forgot to mention 15fps on channel 1 and the rest I think are 7fps

I don't need camera that tracks the object, I'm only looking for a camera that will only "record" when there's movement going on. Because otherwise, there's no point recording blank space. Hard-drives are ridiculously expensive these days.

Do they have this type? and does the motion detection work for more than 2 feet away?

i have one pointed at my door to record when on motion(after someone knocked on my door at 5am), never captures anything even if i go outside and jump up and down. could be just my brand though, lol.

ill play around with it and ill let u know. One thing thats annoying is that spider webs shine brightly when they build a web over my camera, lol.
