What's wrong with this generation? "68 year old bullied by teenagers"

2,710 2,027 June 21, 2012 at 11:20 PM in Rant (2) Youtube
Jesus Christ, what's wrong with kids these days?

Karen Klein a 65 year old bus monitor is mercilessly bullied and verbally harassed by a group of middle schoolers on their way home from Athena Middle School in Greece, New York.
In the disturbing video, the children can be heard yelling at Klein, calling her an "ugly fat ass" and telling the widow, "you don't have a family because they all killed themselves because they don't want to be near you."

Here's the video link [youtube.com]. And it broke my heart.

Support has been pouring in and indiegogo [indiegogo.com] has collected over $440,000 for her!

Spare the rod...Spoil the child. I'd like to slap these kids silly.MadMadMad

It's a gov't job on a bus! Rofl2
That's the attitude that led to this: that all you need is some idiot to sit on the bus and collect a paycheck, and not an actual job that needs to be done effectively.

Same here. All six different schools I went to in four different states, all the different bus drivers, they didn't DO SHIT.

Wow...I never woulda thought Decatur, IL of all places would be the exception... I mean yeah we were loud sometimes, but we got yelled at if we got out of our seats or threw stuff or started fights...if it was fights the bus driver would write us up.

Granted...most of us loved our drivers...they usually knew us and joked with us when we got on, but they expected good behavior...and Decatur isn't just a small one bus area...we had 4 high schools and 5 JH's and tons of Elementary schools...I pretty much always had good drivers.

Then you don't know me very well. IMO, every job needs to be done effectively, and if you don't do effectively, someone should replace you.

I'm not sure how you could replace these kids' parents, but it's obvious they weren't taking their job of effective parenting very seriously.

And no, that's not the attitude that led to this. What led to this is kids thinking it's okay to make fun of someone based on their age or weight. Those little shits did nothing but make fun of her appearance. Then they told her that if they were her kids, they'd kill themselves. Imagine how that felt to her considering her son did kill himself 10 years ago.

Every single one of those kids needs to be expelled.

If today's kids aren't really worse then why do they need bus monitors today and previous generations only needed a bus driver to keep them in line? Dontknow

I think you guys got lucky then! All the schools I went to and all the kids I talked to, I can't ever recall a bus driver actually being able to stop all the shit that went down on the bus.

True. I remember a 6th grade girl making 2 second graders make out with one another, wtf? And a big black guy who was 4 years older than everyone else and was a major trouble maker/fighter would never say anything to me but would often rub my hair if he was sitting behind me, I'm glad it never advanced further than that. The bus rides today I imagine would make any reasonable person shake their head.

Yea, it got to that point because she let herself get walked all over. She had no control over these kids so the situation snowballed. She should have laid the smack down the moment it got out of hand. I don't believe that things were this bad and that the insults got that personal on the very first day on the job. She likely ignored them instead of controlling them and they just kept going further and further.

They weren't kept in line, like I said, it was the wild west back there. The difference is that 20 years ago if you got into a fight, you got over it. Today your parents sue the bus company and/or the school district. The reasons necessitating a bus monitor is not NEW activity back there, it's that they're suddenly liable for it.

I think in this case it's true. I would never have talked back to an adult, let alone bullied them. Kids these days seem to have a sense of entitlement and are very self centered. A lot of them have no morals either, did you see the video about the two teens who stole money from a nine year old girl scout who was selling cookies?
