I sure hope so, or he's probably having a miserable time of it right now.

But I was speaking of his famous quote, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world".

Jesus said the greatest commandment was to love God with all your heart soul and mind. I can't do that if I'm hating someone else; that's what makes election season so difficult for me. laugh out loud The second commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself. Nowhere does it say it's my responsibility to judge others. I can debate opinions and facts and whatever else, but nowhere am I to admonish someone.

But yeah.....the golden rule came from the bible.
I don't think it origionally came from there...I've studied quite a few other religions and its in a lot of them as a baseline, long before Christianity.

laugh out loud True, but then again Finding Nemo was about a disabled boy whose mom was killed by a serial killer, and then he was later kidnapped. His only hope is to be saved by his dad with the assistance of a mentally disabled woman.
You know, when you word it that way, it sounds like a sad story that wouldn't be nearly as funny as the movie actually was. Then again... I think I did nearly cry in the beginning.

Hmm... Maybe they should try to make some B-movies of Disney movies, but turned Drama or something... Scratchhead

Meh, it's $8.55/mo and a lot less hassle overall, from obtaining to playback.
Oh, has it gone up? I thought it was only $8... I haven't been keeping up with things though.

Quote from chewspam :
...I believe that an entity that exists outside of time is not concerned with time. The seven days of creation do not have to be interpreted as 24 hours. In fact they can't be if you follow the story and see that the word "day" wasn't defined until the fourth "day" of creation. Again, science doesn't refute it because there is no age given to the earth in the bible, and we have no way of telling how much time there was from where Genesis 1 begins and where the reference to day and night appear on the 4th "day".
Thank you so much for this post!
My religion has been really rocky lately, and I tried lurking through some Christian forums for a while at the beginning of the year hoping to get some answers, or to find people to talk to about my issues. Then I read all this stuff about evolution being wrong because of the Bible...

Now, I've never sat down and read the whole Bible. I don't know a lot about Christianity, and I don't go to church. So I know I'm not very well educated about my religion, but I had always figured that a "day" didn't necessarily mean exactly 24 hours. It could have been years, it could have been forever... To "create" something from nothing - it doesn't have to mean God said "here are some trees" and BOOM, we have huge, tall trees everywhere... They could have grown. They were still created by Him though...

Sorry for going off track- I was trying to read and get caught up in this thread when I read your post I had to High Five because I've always felt very very alone in my belief that Christianity and Science can work together just fine.

There was an interesting show on Discovery that dealt with this topic earlier this year, the "Moral Dilemma" episode of Head Games.

Nope.
Frog, you should read the book Ishmael [amazon.com]. Among many other mind blowing philosophical points, the author talks about how humans figured out long ago the "rules for humanity." Much like the rules for aerodynamics, he talks about how those rules existed regardless of whether or not we'd mastered them yet and how just like people tried to fly by pasting on wings, people continue to try to live the "wrong" way and wonder why they're farking it all up. This rolls into how the Adam and Eve creation story was actually more of a satirist piece used to basically say, who the fark are you to say that you've got knowledge of good and evil and how it was eventually co-opted to be the creationist story of the people it mocked.

This is a horrible synopsis, but the book is better written. I promise.

I don't agree with everything in the book, but man some of his research is pretty crazy.

That's been the subject of some debate (see Calvinism, for example).

What got him on crack? I'm assuming he was on some sort of speed or coke prior to crack? No one I know really picks up crack til they are broke from everything else.

He's not using now right?
