Meeting people from the innerwebz

Has anyone ever met anyone they only know from online? How was it? Awkward? Fun? Unexpected? Interesting?

How would you feel about someone you've only talked to online and on the phone staying with you the first time you met them?

Someone I have been chatting with online/on the phone for 6 years is coming to town and staying with me for 3 days. I feel like I know her well online, but I'm not sure how I feel about her staying with me for 3 days. I'm excited about it, but apprehensive at the same time. It doesn't help that I have a touch of social anxiety to begin with. Then you hear horror stories about people who you thought you knew online being false. Thoughts? Is this unwise? Experiences?

I went to both of the Slickdeals camping trips that Lux put together before he moved to Costa Rica and it was fun. It was me, him and Lextacy. We had a blast. I did have my own tent though... Big Grin

I have a policy against mixing the innerwebz and real life. It is too much work. First, I'd have to get a life...

Seriously though, I have a personal policy against mixing internet activity with real life. Well, other than Craigslist. laugh out loud

Even back in the MS chat days I met up with people from the internet. A bunch of us from around the US met up at King's Island and rented a couple of cabins for the weekend...it was fun and crazy. laugh out loud I also met a guy who flew over from England

And I have met some SDers too... it's all been good.

I met lots of chicks from the interwebz back in the early to mid 90's. AOL got me quite a bit of action back then. Big Grin

I've met probably around 100 people from online through the years. I married one of them. heart

I met up with someone I met online when I was 14 or 15, and I'd be happy to put pretty much anyone in the lounge up for a night or two if you're passing through VA.
