Samsung got wrecked:

* Jury finds Samsung infringement of Apple utility, design patents for some (though not all) products
* Jury upholds Apple utility, design patents
* Jury upholds Apple trade dress '983
* Jury finds Samsung "diluted" Apple's registered iPhone, iPhone 3 and "Combination iPhone" trade dress on some products, not on others
* No Apple infringement of Samsung utility patents
* Jury found Samsung violated antitrust law by monopolizing markets related to the UMTS standard

Damages owed by Samsung:
* $2.3 billion and counting

oh and one of the jurors speaks out:

Saw that one too...I bet the juror saying they "skipped" a key question is a quote that will find its way into Samsung's motion to dismiss the jury's verdict. OMG

anyone can make keyboards but if you patent the look and feel of your design, then other people have to stay away from it. Apple is not, nor have they claimed to be the first one to use the "pad" /"slate" design. they had a patent that covers the overall esthics of their design and THAT was part of what samsung copied. they tried to make their (samsung) devices look similar to iphones/pad to make them appeal to the same audience

the picture with the years illustrates this point

they didn't win on the ipad result, they won on the UI/bezel of the Iphone
if you read the jury result, they found samsung not infringement on the Ipad design.

If you read my quote on the juror, he stated they believed they copied the UI look and the bezel
Also honestly, the bezel? i mean really a bezel is the infringement?

Which if you look at the F700 i showed you, would've proved this "UI" and bezel was already in use by samsung phones 1 year before the iphone was announced.

Its a ridiculous point, the US Patent office is retarded for granting such a broad patent, and the jurors that have talked so far are just giving samsung ammunition in their appeal.

This "settlement" won't be resolved for another 5 years, its funny how they're arguing about the Samsung Galaxy S and the iphone 3G, they aren't even complaining about current devices. But apple wants to use its ruling on the Galaxy S to stop S3 sales? When the phones don't look alike at all?

Am pretty sure Samsung has their own share of silly patents in their pockets. If nothing else, Apple beat them in the patent game.

Also, irrespective of who copied who...Apple was the one to popularize and commercialize the Touch Phone and the Touch Tablet......no one else had succeeded before them. Gradually everyone tried to copy/follow/get inspired from their successes with the iphone and the ipad.

If it's made in China and sold in China, then Apple can't do jack. China copies everything. They copy cars, phones, tablets, theme parks (yes they really have a FAKE Disneyland)., fake Apple stores, etc.

China don't give a fark, because China doesn't care. IP doesn't exist there (not for foreign companies anyway).

That and because the legal system is so slow. If Apple tries to sue any one of those guys, they'll have 15-25 new models of the same thing by the time it even reaches the court, so it'll be irrelevant.

Trying to sue someone in China for copyright infringement is like playing a very long game of cat and mouse. You'll never win.

There is a difference between Chinese copies and Korean copies. Koreans did not admit they were copying. They made slight modifications or improvements and claimed they were all their ideas. It is their culture. I learned this from working with many Koreans in the past. I hope this does not apply to every Koreans but I saw majority of them were always implementing this strategy to save them time and effort. They have no shame doing this. Samsung is the great example of Korean copycats. Japaneses were among the victims. Koreans hate Japaneses but copying everything from snacks to cars. Hundai copying Honda, Mercedes, BMW and Lexus is another good example. Now Hundai car is looking better the make they were copying from. I am glad that the jury reached the verdict against Samsung.

there's actually truth to that.

the store "forever 21" was founded by a korean man. he had only one store when he started. his two daughters looked thru fashion magazines & today's fashion trends. they took the designs, modified it, made their own labels and most of all, made it affordable.

true story, read it in an interview somewhere.

Koreans are just a joke . They claimed they invented Chinese characters, Chinese herbology and press printing. They even claimed Confucius was a Korean.

Talking about a country where everyone does plastic surgery and scare of fan death. LMAO

I hate to see Apple abusing patent system to take down competition, but I really don't care much about Samsung.
