Target Chit Chat

This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

Why is it that all the new young Mom's want to know what the sex of their child is going to be? My DD want's to know and I'm like that takes all the fun and surprise out of it, so then she agreed, but now is rethinking that idea and told me, Mom if you know what the sex is just think of all the things you can buy at Target!!
I found out with both of my kids. I'm also a tad of a type A person who likes to be in control of most everything. Embarrassment I couldn't really control what sex they would be, although we did try "biasing" (Shettles method) with our first (which worked, BTW - but then again we had an approx 50% chance either way, so either it worked or we just fell into that side of the approx 50% chance of having a boy (it's actually slightly less than 50% chance that you will give birth to a boy, but that's another topic)), but at least I could be mentally prepared and decorate the room in more of a "boy" or "girl" style.

Quote from smegalicious :
We figured, it's still a "surprise" whether you find out in the delivery room or in the ultrasound room a few months earlier. EEK!
That was also my feeling as well. We were surprised when we found out at the US Smilie

For instance if I wanted to be an asshat I could get 5 movies with coupons and return them all. Well I dont want the cashier to see my receipt (obviously) so I return them and ask her to look it up on card I used.
With the new way, it goes against my drivers license or you bring in receipt.
Not a bad solution for asshat coupon returners.
I haven't done a return w/o receipt in a long time, so IDK, but when you think about it, why would it matter if you have a receipt or they look it up. It isn't as if they are deducting the MQ value from return items, and they almost never look up the item on the receipt. They just scan the receipt, scan the item, and then give you the $$ back, IME.

Speaking of clothes, have you noticed that it is much harder to find gender nuetral clothes now?? Almost everyone I know finds out the sex during pregnancy, but recently I had to buy a gift for someone who didn't know. It was difficult to find a gift. I opted to not buy clothes and just go with diapers/wipes. You can never have too many of those (or, I used to think so. currently, I have quite a few and wonder if my DD will ever wear them all)
Yes. We had some friends who didn't want to know and it was difficult. She did the nursery in neutral colors (literally-- grey was the dominant) which sounds weird but was lovely in person. We did pale green and shades of brown/earth tones, which could be gender neutral I guess.

It's funny. . . I dress the boy up in some pretty butch outfits (he looks so nice in blue b/c of his eyes) and yet peeps always think he's a girl. I guess b/c of his bright pink cheeks and long eyelashes.

Oh and me too on the diapers and wipes. I've been trying to calculate how long he'll have to be in diapers for me to actually get through all the wipes we've got. Teehee No early potty-training here!! (JK of course.)

Publix Peeps that hang out here (apologies in advance to dpags):

30 cent bags of Tyson Chicken for those with Publix that take Food Lion as a competitor (started today in Alabama).

All the details are here in this post (sorry to be quoting myself though and your price may vary. Sneak peek was from Meridianville).

I found out b/c the information was right there to be had and it would have driven me crazy at that point not to know. However, if we had had to have a separate procedure to find out, I probably wouldn't have done it. Dontknow
I totally agree with this. I didn't really want to know with DS but DH REALLY wanted to know, so I was like whatever, let's find out. However, I knew the day I peed on the stick that he was a boy. I was 110% sure. With this one I wanted to know right after conception. laugh out loud I saved everything from DS and knowing this is our last baby I wanted to start getting rid of very, very boy stuff asap if it was a girl. I was actually hoping it was a boy (mostly because I'm cheap) and was a little disappointed when they told us girl. I'm totally over it now, but I'm glad we found out. I had 12 tubs of baby boy clothes that I was able to go through and get rid of.

My MIL, who obviously wasn't able to find out with her kids, was telling me the other day that one of the people she works with isn't finding out ahead of time. She thinks the girl is totally ridiculous and doesn't understand why you wouldn't find out. Kind of made me laugh because with her generation it wasn't even an option and obviously they did ok.

And since we're on the topic of ultrasounds, I have another one scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. This will be 4 so far with this pregnancy, I only had 2 with DS and the extra visits are starting to make me feel like I've been pregnant for EVER. Baby girl is measuring 2-3 weeks big, which isn't really a surprise since DS was born 2.5 weeks early. I told the Dr. I didn't really need someone with a medical degree to tell me that this baby was big, but that I'd go along with it because I want to see more pics of her.

Yeah, I teased my DH that I wasn't going to even try potty training until I made it through most of the diaper stockpile.LMAO of course, if she is ready, I will start, cause I also have a stack of training pants tooBig Grin and then I can sell those dipes at my yard sale. I sold all of the wags diapers at my last sale and they went quick at 4.00 a bag. I kept all the pampers and huggies for myself. As far as wipes go, we use those things for everything.. WE went through 2 packs at the beach the last few days. Everyone used them for cleaning.. feet, legs, shoes, or anything else that needed to be cleaned. I also used a whole pack last week on my blinds. They did a great job with cleaning the dust buildup off my blinds.. And I keep a box in the kitchen and use it to clean the high chair, counters,etc..

WTH is the difference between shams and euro shams..

How many layers do you guys add to your bedding - fitted sheet, flat sheet, blanket, duvet/comforter...Do you use neutral color sheets to go along with the comforter or do you have separate sets...Do you use a comforter for decorative purposes or for warmth....Can you say I am domestically challenged..

Fitted sheet, flat sheet, comforter during the summer time. Fitted sheet, flat sheet, blanket, comforter during the winter time. I use whatever sheets that are clean.. and usually they don't match the rest of the bed laugh out loud since I tend to buy sheets that I get cheap or free. No one sees the sheets and stuff except the person sleeping in them, you know? We usually fold back the comforter to the foot of the bed unless it's really cold and need it for warmth (which is rare).

I think bedding is a personal decision and there's really no standard 'rule' about it all.. here's your answer about the shams. Smilie
