This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

Ok so I found this on Frontier's website

Baby Items - Essential
Diaper bag, stroller. Refer to Child Restraint systems for information on Car Seat and Restraint devices.
Refer to Strollers for more information on child mobility.
Exempt item when traveling with the infant, no fees apply.

I think I can make it with just a backpack and carry on bag. I plan on wearing the baby in my faux-Moby wrap. I'd rather fly Frontier since it is a shorter trip duration. Plus I don't want to deal with that "pick your own seat" crap. Mini said she hated that about SW. But she didn't have a choice in the matter I didnt' have to pay the extra $50 for unaccompanied minor with SW. After 12 they are considered an "adult" [passenger.

My predicament of the day. I have never flown with an infant before. Is the infant carseat considered a checked bag or can I take it to the gate and have them tag it and stow it below the plane. I have visions of them throwing the seat around like a rag doll. I don't want it to be compromised due to its handling as a checked bag. Also, I don't want to have to pay upwards of $20 to check it. I've narrowed my choices down to Frontier (price and short flight duration) and Southwest (price is the same as Frontier, flight duration is slightly longer with a later arrival time  but 2 checked bags free). If I have to pay to check the seat that will help make my decision of Southwest.
I flew AA when I took baby boy back to KS w/me (he was 2 months old). You'll need to research whichever airline you end up flying to find out what their policy was. I was SOOOO glad I did this b/c I had no idea:

-- infant car seat can be carried on for free (doesn't count against your carryons) and used if no one is sitting in the seat next to you (can check online to see if the seat is open). If you bring it and the seat isn't open, they will gate check for free. Obviously this doesn't apply to SW. [I didn't bother doing this since I could see online that there were peeps sitting next to me on one leg of the flight each way. Plus I knew he'd need to be held most of the time anyway.]

-- can bring unlimited amounts of pumped breast milk on board. If you put it in bottles (w/oz. marks on the side) and no more than 3 oz. in each bottle, they don't even have to put it through their special screener.

-- diaper bag does NOT count against your carry on limitations.

So I carried baby boy in the Bjorn, and carried a diaper bag, my purse, and a rolling suitcase. I was quite a sight. laugh out loud I got lots of help and sympathy from strangers, though.

ETA: Make sure you ask for early boarding too. Very helpful not having to be jostled in the back while you're trying to get everything stowed and baby settled.

How old are you...I just might be your elder. Teehee

<-----------just turned 38 in Sept.

Thanks SB...I am not looking forward to flying with LJ but it is MUCH better than driving over 24 hours home with Papi. Less than 5 hours for total flight duration sounds much better.

Don't even go there, Thrift...you and I are the same age, and he's older than both of us put together (laugh out loud)

BTW, you and LJ will do fine on ze plane (we flew Rylen to Orlando at about eight weeks, so no worries); we'll have to meet up for a play date sometime when we're up in the 'other' O-town...my wife and your hubby can watch the kids while we shop.

Papillon ST, ftw!!!

As long as you don't get delayed you will be fine. We were late leaving here, missed our connection in Dallas Crying2 and were delayed for about 5 hours. Got there at 10 PM instead of 5 PM. I was just glad I wasn't stuck alone in the Dallas airport overnight w/a baby and only a handful of diapers. EEK!

He slept most of the flights, which is really what you hope for.

Yep, can vouch for each one of those except for the liquid in the bottles. I had 6 small bottles with 3 oz of water in them in my diaper bag with the formula powder in a separate container (with scoop) and the security people made me dump all of the water out of each bottle before they would let me thru. I was pissed as I knew the water was fine and did not want to use/buy a bottle of water (did anyway) for DD. This was June 2008, so maybe they've gotten better with this, but just wanted to forewarn!

I was able to use a car seat on the airplane with her and it was the best!! DD slept both ways!

Still waiting for HR to call me back...Annoyed

Ok so I respectfully disagree with my elders. Roll

INAA it would be you, me, Mini, & Meema shopping while your DW & my DH and Poobah stay home with the wee lil ones. I am soooooo excited for all of the ST's in close proximity. I'll be on the West side of town where Meema says there are some good jedi's. My sister shops the Papillion ST but I think she's dropped out of couponing 101. I think Amil shops that store.

Meema and I would make a weekend down to your neck of the woods but only if you can guarantee jedis and keep Meema out of Old Time Pottery.

I say you, me, PK and meema travel up to Mpls and pay Oranges a visit. Teehee I mean it is the birthplace of Target, we must pay it homage!

I am hoping that LJ sleeps on the flight, combination of white noise of the engines and movement Pray for the best.

He's sleeping awesome at night. Last night went from 9-3 then to 5:45...I thought he was going to wake up but he konked back out until 7:45. He went down at 9 (cranky-crankerton) and only slept for 20 minutes. Why is he sleeping so great at night and like complete shit during the day? Is he sleeping too much at night? Should I start waking him at 6 to start the day? UGH! I have packing to get done and need at least an hour nap out of this boy!

That is AMAZING! I haven't been doing the K glade deal because all (even my b2g1) and K Cat's and CRT's were stolen with my purse!
When does it end again? I have been stocking up on the BOGO blinkies.

Well that's just stupid. Must have been ignorant/stupid TSA people. Their guidelines are spelled out on their website and are really clear. Thrift, it's a good idea to read up on their website (they have a whole section on traveling with kids).

Hope the HR peeps can help you. I think what you've described constitutes a "hostile work environment" and you should definitely be protected from that-- universities, esp. public ones-- have pretty clear guidelines on those situations, usually.

OK, I forgot the most important piece of advice: be ready w/something for him to suck on (boob, bottle, or pacifier) for when you are going up or down in the plane so his ears can clear.

As far as the sleeping thing goes, no he's not sleeping too much at night (though 6 straight hours is great!!). Day sleeping is just harder for some kids, mine included. It's not dark, other people aren't going to sleep at the same time, there's noise, etc. Just keep working with him; it will come.

Just popping in to wave Looks like it's been a quietish week around here.

Grandpa's funeral is today [legacy.com]. Frown I am missing it because oldest DD woke up with a fever and stomach pains this morning!!! I think the baby is starting to feel warm too. *sigh* I shoved my beloved hubby out the door. He wanted to stay with his sick girls, but I told him he needed to be there for Mom and Grandma. He's such a wonderful daddy. He's been gone about an hour and a half and has called to check on us a few times already. I love him...

We are supposed to be driving back this afternoon - I'm very much NOT looking forward to that with a sick kid!

Can someone help clarify for me? I am confused about Target Qs being used in conjunction with Manufacturer Qs.

If it says "Limit one item or offer per coupon" on the Target Q can I still use a manufacturer q with it?

If the manufacturer's coupon says "limit one coupon per purchase" on it can I still use the Target coupon with it?

I am guessing No to both questions.

Almost all of the coupons I get these days have either of these two statements printed on them. So how would you ever combine a Target Q with a Manufacturer Q like you're supposed to be able to? Is it just an infrequent occurance when the coupons don't happen to mention the two above statements?

Thanks!

I have a question for all you lovely TCCer's. Have any of you picked up photo prints from T lately? Just wondering if they have any SF codes in the packaging (sometimes they do that Smilie). TIA heart
