I assume the criticism is the for the old style, less compact battery. For what it's worth I have over a dozen DeWalt 20v batteries, and the only ones that have failed were the 5Ah PowerStacks, usually because the indicator lights get stuck on. To their credit, they have replaced them within the warranty period.

It's the model, it is phased out, it is still good battery and pretty sure will be replaced if under warranty but it is just not for me.

To the "these are old" comments. They are not. Dewalt somepoint not too long ago decided to address counterfeits by flooding the market with cheaper, albeit knockoff looking, yet totally real Dewalt batteries. These are that. Only difference is a lack of battery meter like on the regular ones.

No, they are real with meters. They are very good, although older model. They are a bit heavier than newer model, about 20% but you will not notice it. I have had them for years and cannot kill them.

This model is phase out, so they are old. it is a discontinued model and it is an "older" model.
