Target Chit Chat

This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

Very general and high level overview... a virus binds to receptor proteins on the surface of various types of cells. Once the virus binds to a cell, it can "hijack" the cell and use it to make more copies of itself. If you have something that is binding to the virus, then it cannot attach to cells, replicate, and infect additional cells.

I really need to start doing this! Gotta find the thread.

I'm so tired, I need to get to bed but I think I will just lie there and think to much. My grandma just passed at about 8:30. I'm 14 hours away. It's so sad but good in the way that she is not in pain anymore and her and grandpa are together once again. She has been in very poor health for a long time and in so much pain. You know that stage where they become like an infant again. She kept forgetting she couldn't walk, she tried to get out of bed and broke her arm and four ribs. She was at home and had 24 hour care but somehow tried to get out of bed anyway and wasn't stopped. That was two days ago and today she was released from the pain.

LOL - THAT is hilarious Teri!! Thanks for the laugh - much needed!!!!! I am so sorry to read about your awful Doc's appt --- however maybe this infection was actually a blessing in disguise??? I am sending GET WELL & POSITIVE THOUGHTS & HUGS your way!!! On a happier note - how is the moving stuff going?

Quote from greenbelt :

LOL - Everybody has to have SOMETHING they are good at ... laugh out loud It is good to see ya hug Don't be a stranger!!! Thanks for the heads up on the jewelry, may have to wander over to have a look see!

Dr OZ also recommends these 5 foods to keep you healthy and to eat them esp if you feel you are starting to get sick or are around sick people:

-Raw Garlic
-Sardines
-Carrot juice & puh-pie-a juice (obviously I've never bought them, don't know how to spell it, sorry) laugh out loud
-Elderberry juice
-Miso soup
OK - I SWEAR by the raw garlic as it has natural anti-microbial qualities --- like a soap for your insides (except it is an oil lol) Add to that honey (again with the germ fighting abilities) and raw onions (same reason) and lemon juice (vitamin C.) I couldn't possibly stomach the sardines --- but make a HOT drink with a base of green tea then put in a crushed glove of garlic, chopped up raw onion, fresh lemon, and some honey and it will cure what ails ya!!! Never hear of Dr OZ but sounds as if he has some good ideas.

We only know girls around here. . .we've got friends who had a baby in late December, a neighbor three doors down whose little girl is one month older, and another neighbor whose little girl is 1 week younger. . .The two neighbor babies are so different from him! They are so calm and placid. They also both sat way before he did, but I don't think either of them are crawling yet. Very interesting to see babies who aren't constantly crawling all over everything and trying to hurtle themselves off of the side of anything they can.
Oh goodness - could we please introduce these girls to my daughters who are are the OPPOSITE ... calm? placid? not hurtling/wrestling/smashing into things? In my dreams!

You think that video is bad????? I tried to open one of the links that Ariel posted which I couldn't seem to get to ---- the first facebook one and it opened my facebook page where someone had sent me a video which was the MOST DISGUSTING/SAD THING I HAVE EVER SEEN ... video footage of a chap who dived into water and missed ... I will leave it at that :barf:

'Yes, let's have him tilt his head like his neck is broken and give a half way smile....now, let's pop the collar on his polo so he looks like part of the Breakfast Club...yes-perfect!!! now shoot!!!'. idiots
Oh I hear ya ---- I haven't seen the retakes yet from my DS but based on the last one - they not only wanted the Breakfast Club but they had no sense of timing ... it looked as if JRo had once been smiling but his face had gotten tired while waiting and had drifted into a different expression .................

I am so freaking out about a job interview I have on friday.
I think that the dress with the jacket sounds very nice - I would go in that if you are comfortable in it. It is really awful to go in something you feel absolutely horrendous wearing because then you often spend all of your time fidgeting with it (usually unconsciously) which makes you seem all off kilter. Go in and be your amazing brilliant self!!! Will be rooting for you and sending POSITIVE thoughts your way!!!

I will PM you - I am in Wisconsin - and I kid you not - the Principal of the school and the social worker SHOWED UP at my house without calling/emailing/contacting me in any way ... waking up the baby with their ringing the doorbell ------ to ASK ME WHERE MY SON WAS. He was AT SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They stood there and told me he was not at school (even though I had dropped him off in the morning) and after I repeatedly told them that he was there )per the instructions of the Principal who wants him there spreading his germs to all the other kiddos they finally left. I picked my son up FROM SCHOOL that afternoon .... no apologies from the principal he hasn't spoken to me since. The superintendent of our school district says it is common practice for the principal to show up unannounced and uninvited to people's houses whose children are sick and have missed seven school days. WTH is this school district doing??? They actually lost him the first day - then they come to my house and tell me he isn't at school when he is --- WTH! Sorry ------ rant over!

Oh my goodness - your daughters are BEAUTIFUL!! Sophie's hair is AMAZING --- my Lil Miss M will NEVER have hair that long!!! And the Little Bo Peep & Lamb is just TOO cute!! Your girls are GORGEOUS!!!!

Thanks to all you sharing your kiddos pics - I LOVE to see them!!! Your kiddos are all so cute!!!!!

I have had several runs like that lately.. hate it!

And yep on the homeschooling. Been going strong for 9 years now.. of course, I feel like the head banging smiley alot of days, but I wouldn't trade the last 9 years for anything! My oldest graduates this year, and my baby won't start school officially for another 3+ years. I told my DH that I will be retirement age by the time I get these kids schooled
I will send you a PM as well - just trying to figure out what to do in this situation!! Yeah and hate shopping runs like that .... wishing WINDSHIELD runs for all of us!!! WE NEED EM!

Dpags - GOOD LUCK with the job!!!!!!!

Meg - GOOD LUCK to you too!!!!!!!!

Ummmm, what he said!! Roll Seriously, Legos are a bit too small for small hands and hurt like hell when you step on them since they are so small. These are awesome for preschoolers (I donated several boxes to my DD's preschool and they love them) but my son (8yrs) has a blast creating different creatures, etc. out of them. He made a Wall-e out of the creature set that looked EXACTLY like Wall-e with moveable parts. That kid......he's already smarter that both dh and me......Help

I would seriously wonder about the legality of this "common procedure" by the principal. Just because he usually does this doesn't make it legal. This is very very odd. If I were you, I would at least get a consultation with a lawyer and go over the recent events you've experienced. At the very least, this sounds like harassment. You do not want these people to think you can be pushed around. You do have rights, and quite frankly, the principal requiring a sick child go to school can be considered abusive - to both that child and the other students/teachers. Who knows what risk that principal is taking by exposing other people (with potentially less resistant immune systems) to whatever virus/bacteria that your DS has?? There are some serious issues going on there that need to be addressed!

Here is a good website for information on HS in WI [youcanhomeschool.org]. The statues state that notice must be given by October 15th, but don't state if there are exceptions for extenuating circumstances. You may need to email someone for more information regarding that aspect. Usually there is some loophole. There may even be a loophole for medical reasons, in which case you could see if his pediatrician is sympathetic to his case and would recommend/prescribe homeschooling for health (whether they be medical - i.e. avoiding exposure to germs and whatnot that this principal doesn't care about - or mental - suffering from harassment by the principal/teachers). Definitely do some homework on this!
