RETIRED Marlboro Outwit the West Funny Farm

228 92 October 16, 2010 at 01:35 PM
Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

If you are 1 of the 1st 100 each day you get VO5 https://www.facebook.com/VO5/app_244668892330930
That's an odd one.. first 100 at 12pm ET and it's one of those enter every 24 hrs... so everyday you'll be slightly behind the previous days entry..... I'm already 1 1/2 hrs behind the 12 pm, so I'll have to skip tomorrow so I can enter close to 12 on Sun

Need advice. Just found out as a widow of a Viet Nam era vet I can get a home loan. Ultimate goal is to own my own home. Checked my credit (dont know the exact score) have 4 adverse under $40 3 from ID theft and the bank says I owe $845 in bounced check fees from the ID theft although they took the checks off I still owe the fees for them bouncing???? Dont get that one!! One more check that I did because I wrote on an account that was closed because when we moved I grabbed the checkbook out of the box (grabbed the wrong one) I paid the check off the next week because Dominoes wouldnt let me write again til I did. They re-instated my check writing privileges but never notified the main office it was paid and it went on my credit report AND prosecuting attorney. Its for $35 but I have refussed to pay it off a second time!
Also had a beef with mediacom. They said I didnt return the right plug in cord to the cable box and charged me $298!!!! I refused because they threw away the cord I did return. (They know the difference???) I paid it off 2 years later when I returned to them for service.
All of these will be removed from my report 08/13.
The problem Im having is..... I dont believe in credit cards!! I pay as I earn it! Good/ cheaper..... does NOT build credit however! Did have a credit line of $2500 when I bought my car and it reported that I paid on time for 2 years but that was in 2002!!
Need advice on credit building cards...... credit union vs bank??? Do not know what Im doing!!! Any advice is appreciated!
Thanks!!
Credit union should be less expensive (maybe no fees and a lower interest rate) than banks...Did you look at USAA?

I would just get one (or 2) and use them once a month and pay it off each month....like a tank of gas or something like that. It shouldn't matter how much you use/pay off each month - just that you do something positive each month.

What Im planning to do is put my cable bill on auto-pay and set up the credit card on auto-pay with my bank so instead of using my debit card and not building credit I can use the credit card and pay to build credit. Want a card that doesnt charge if you pay off in full for purchases so it costs the same as what Im doing now

not so sure that paying a CC in full each month adds to your credit... I "think" what helps is showing you can pay monthly on a balance.

Who knows how accurate information on the internet is, but I checked several sites (like bills.com) that they say even if you pay it in full each month (that is, don't carry a balance from month to month), it builds your credit because your are still paying back what you borrowed....

From what Ive been reading it depends on whether or not the credit card reports to the credit things. Its all so confusing and dont know which card to get

Hickory Farms is re-drawing the grand prize for their Holiday contest, so check your email and spam.......I don't know if the original winner didn't claim or what happened.
I did see them saying the first winner was about to lose their prize if they didn't claim it soon. I think it was this week sometime or last week I seen them post about that.

I don't know for sure, just going on what my bank told me yearsssssssss ago. I started building credit when I was 18,, took a small personal loan, put it all in a savings acct, and paid monthly to pay it off. Also got a store (sears) card, I was buying tools regularly anyway, so started charging them and sometimes paid off in full or over 2 months. Then got a real credit card and did the same. When I bought my first house I had no prob qualifying for the loan.

Good Morning FF,

Received the Mayan prize a few minutes ago.....did have to sign for it.

While the case is cute, I have my doubts as to a $114 value....just my opinion on it.

Congrats to the winners I missed and thanks for the links.
Congrats on getting your prize, I won also, did not know we had to sign for it, I hope i'm home when it comes

Dang, they just got this guy at our Family Mission.......yikes

A New York City man was arrested Friday at the Warren Family Mission for the New York's first homicide of 2013.
Raymond Mayrant, 25, was apprehended by U.S. Marshals Friday at the Warren Family Mission on Youngstown Road S.E. and is being held in the Trumbull County Jail until he is extradited back to New York.

Authorities discovered Mayrant was staying at the mission after taking the license plate from the 1998 Nissan Altima that Mayrant allegedly stole from Augusta, Maine.

Mayrant is facing charges in the Bronx borough of the city for fatally shooting his girlfriend's mother, Elzina Brown, 59, in the chest during an argument Jan. 3. Mayrant also shot his 22-year-old girlfriend, Diamond Dunn, who suffered non-life threatening injuries.
