I never used to be into trendy clothes that much. I was never into express until April, so I always just stuck with the basics. I still probably have about 30 plain Ralph Lauren long and short-sleeved t-shirts that I wear pretty often because the fabric is high quality, launders well, and just lay well on me. Now, these express clothes are so nice and cheap that i see them as almost disposable...so I feel like I am willing to try the trendy stuff
Yes, high quality fabric is hard to find!
I don't think I can ever go trendy because most are prints and prints give me headaches
Hey hey hey! We like some of the same stuff!
I missed the cosmetic case again! It was not meant to be!
JCrew has the only shorts that I like. They are a little longer and their fabric is a little shorter. LOVE them. I also probably have about 20 of their plain cotton t-shirts becuase they launder well and hold their shape. I'm such a sucker for those and the Ralph Lauren ones.
I have yet to find someone that likes bland boring stuff that I do
Some of it has to do with the fact that I don't really go anywhere. I used to buy stuff I didn't have any place to wear but it started to depress me when my life never got exciting enough to wear those pieces.
When one of my old friends was about to get married one of her supposed bridesmaids asked me where I had gotten my outfit from and when I told her it was JCpenney's she actually replied "You look like you would shop at JCpenney's" and laughed.
Oddly enough I still love clothes. You'd think I'd be less obsessed with them since I like plain stuff and only get to put on something super spiffy a few times a year.

what a b--!
i used to shop a LOT at target but i think they have some cute styles and i used to pride myself in being able to make a cheap item look nice. it's all about finding what works for your body -- everyone is imperfect and you just have to learn how to work with your flaws. speaking of which, i should really stop trying to wear leggings and tights, but they're just so darn comfy.
obsessed with this hoodies. it's cute. i want every color.
It was. I didn't notice it today but wasn't really looking. I bought it at 40% and will call for a pa later.

my legs are shaped funny so while they may sometimes look long and thin (usually in shorts), they are not. leggings make them look funny so i try to do other things to fix it - i.e. if i wear a long enough sweater/tunic and then wear knee high boots it's not as bad - very little leg shown.

I definitely don't like Guess anymore. But Bebe I still like, especially their nice dresses and suits, but that's about it. I don't wear anything else from there.

But definitely don't let it depress you. Maybe it'll help you work your way getting your life to that way to eventually wear all the pretty clothes!
I agree - it's about making what looks good on your body!
When I was at the mall with DH, I told him it's a good thing everyone doesn't know how to shop for deals. The others in the store were making up for our Express steals.
...
I'm a boring dresser also. My closet & drawers are full of solid color tops. None of my pants/jeans have patterns. They're pretty much all blue or black. Dark brown is on my "to buy" list, but I haven't found any I like. I did buy quite a few dresses last year. Unfortunately, I was very predictable in the ones I kept. All but one of them is made similarly. They're a solid color or have a black bottom & single color top. The one that broke the pattern was a tropical print that I bought for our cruise embarkation only. I changed before dinner.
i am awful with jewelry also. i find i can't stand to wear them, so i mostly just wear a simple necklace and now my wedding band and sometimes engagement ring. sometimes i only wear the band (i like it by itself) and the ring goes on my necklace.
i :heart colored bottoms and wish more of them looked nice on me! i tried the stella sateen jeggings in store (clearance 29.99) and they all squished my butt, but otherwise fit.

Leggings really are too comfy. I buy tons of them because I'm still looking for a pair that are thick enough for our winters up here. I do always wear them with tunic length pieces and I either send back the thin ones I buy or I wear them under things when it is super cold.
Do any of you guys live near NYC? I feel like I'm the only one over here when everyone is talking about what's left in their local VS and Express stores.:lol
