OK I went thru my closet to find some dresses. Help me decide which, if any of these, I should wear. This will not be a big wedding event where I will be dancing and hanging with friends. My friend is having 2 receptions - this is the other one for his extended family members so that they don't have to invite them to the "real" one in July which she wanted to keep intimate. It is a banquet at a Chinese restaurant. My friend will be wearing an ivory chipao (Chinese dress). I mention the color BC one of my dresses is a deep red color.. Traditionally you're not supposed to wear red, but she's not wearing red.. Does that make it OK? I'm not sure...
Hm...honestly, I'm not sure you should go with the red, no matter what the color. Just because you're not supposed to wear red. Even though your friend is wearing ivory, I think it might be a little offensive. Have you had a chance to ask some other girl friends that may also have some input?

If you are unsure, and you have so many other beautiful dresses, might as well not worry about it, and pick a different color dress nod

1) this is a silk patterned dress fr BR.. Kinda casual, but these Chinese banquets tend to be somewhat casual ime.
2) the questionable red dress
3) same dress in black, 1 size smaller (this one fits me better right now)
4) older dress that I've worn to 2 weddings already, but they were both his friends that he's not very close to. No overlap of ppl and my friend hasn't seen it before. It can be worn with or without the ribbon straps (I've only worn it with).

If you're unsure, don't. You must have something else in that closet Teehee

if you're sure there is no need to return the dress, then why not?

My opinion may not mean much, because I didn't know you weren't supposed to wear red. I'm guessing that's an Asian tradition. How do they feel about black at weddings? Anyway, the 3rd dress looks OMG on you. That's super flattering. My next choice would be the last one with the straps.

I'm considering getting DS's GF a S, but she may need an XS. I have both sizes, but prefer the S. She appears to have gained some weight, which is typical of a college freshman. Now she appears to be as big as I am, but I'm not sure. That's my problem. If both dresses were for me, I wouldn't worry about it. I'd hate for her to have to exchange the dress & see I got it for practically nothing though.

ETA: I think I'll go ahead & get a S. If DH thinks she still looks smaller than I am, I'll keep the S & order her an XS. Thanks for the advice.

Depends what your expectation of the Memorial Day will be. It could be 30/40% off the whole store. Is there anything else you are admiring? If you really want the dress and won't return it, you should get it now...at least use one A-List account with it.

That's def my favorite of the bunch, but I've worn it so much already!

Traditionally the bride wears red. I looked it up today and you're actually not supposed to wear red, black, or white. laugh out loud they said prints are the best... Which is why I'm considering the twice-worn dress. But I've never worn the black or red one and I know she won't care.. She'll think I'm crazy for considering tradition at all.

Is the first one too casual? Frown

Do you all think the dresses will go off sale tonight?

Thanks girls. I was thinking a skater dress too, but wanted to make sure. I like them for myself & didn't know if a 19 yr. old would also.
I haven't been following the dress sale on Express, but from what I've noticed when I was stalking dress sales is that it should last at least a week, even if the tier expires. Not sure if this helps any though...you can also go for a clearance skater dress!

Marshall's, like 3 or 4 years ago. It's a max and Cleo dress.

#4 looks awesome on you! No straps is what I prefer. I think #3 is good too and you should go with it IMO. The #2 dress is a beautiful color, but I would say definite no because of how formal that is.

I've worn black to a Chinese banquet before. Doesn't seem like there was a problem since I saw other girls in black Dontknow

Yes, go with an S.
