Then I remembered the RC helicopter I got in my bag of crap that never really worked, and the controller had three IR LEDs, two of which match, and looked close enough to the ones that were in the Harmony. Desoldered them, cut and formed the leads to more or less match the shape of the ones I was pulling off. Removed the bad units, put in the replacements, and it works like a champ again
I could have just gone to Radio Shack and bought some LEDs, but I wanted to fix it today, and didn't want to drive into town
They were visibly burned out too, one of the elements in each was brown, versus both being silver like they ought to be.
