My kiddos and wife got a snow day today, so they get their vacation extended a little bit. Too bad I had to slip and slide all the way to work this morning. :woeisme:

Good timing on the bump. We're supposed to get a small amount of snow, mixed with ice and sleet tomorrow. Whee

Thinking the same thing - panic among parents here since schools are out by noon and child care needs to be arranged on really short notice. bounce

While here in the PNW, we just had 12 days in a row without rain.

:nelsonhaha:

It was due to a temperature inversion [seattletimes.com] so in the lowlands, instead of rain we had freezing ground level fog for most of that time but beautiful sunny days if you were in the mountains.

Except that I love this weather (as long as it doesn't happen more than a few times throughout the winter). Stick Out Tongue

Also reminds me of when our daughter was born. On the night of 12/11/00, we had an ice storm in Portland. Our house was on quite a steep hill. Wife thought she was in labor; we headed to the hospital around midnight. I knew we wouldn't be able to get back up the hill if we had to return soon. Turns out she wasn't yet in labor; doctor sent us home. Had to park at the bottom of the street and walk (well, try to walk - it was basically a sheet of ice) up the hill the perhaps 400 ft to the house - wife was ~ 8.5 months pregnant. Three hours later, she woke up again; this time, labor had actually started, so we had to walk/slide back down the hill to the car and head to the hospital; she gave birth later than night.

EEK!

We haven't had any snow or ice at the house this winter, which is unusual, usually we'll have two or three snow falls per winter. The Cascades look quite pretty though with all the snow on them but at our elevation there's nada.

I sometimes miss my Mt. Hood view on nice days from our house in Tigard. But not enough that I think I'll ever live in the PNW again.
