Rain should be changing to snow in a few hours...first snow of the season. woot

They're expecting around 3" (twss Frown )...maybe more, maybe less.

We had our first measurable snow about two weeks ago when I was night shift and while we only ended up with a few inches that stuck but it was the worst snow I have ever driven in as far as visibility goes. It was snowing crazy hard and blowing just about perfectly horizontal with 30-35mph winds. There were times when I couldn't see the ground from the cab of my truck. Made for a long miserable night. I just hope that isn't a forecast for the whole winter, although I'll take the snow over the below zero temperatures any time.

with last year being record breaking, at least the likelihood of that happening again is next to nil laugh out loud

IMPACTS...

* TRAVEL WILL BECOME DIFFICULT DUE TO HEAVY SNOW... SNOW COVERED ROADS... AND BLOWING SNOW. THE AFTERNOON COMMUTE TODAY AND BOTH TUESDAY COMMUTES HAVE THE HIGHEST PROBABILITY OF BEING AFFECTED. TRAVEL MAY BECOME TREACHEROUS OR IMPOSSIBLE DURING THE PERIODS OF HEAVIEST SNOW.

* SPORADIC POWER OUTAGES MAY OCCUR DUE TO THE HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS.

THIS STORM WILL SEVERELY IMPACT TRAVEL OVER MUCH OF THE REGION... AND POWER OUTAGES MAY OCCUR DUE TO THE HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS. THOSE IN REMOTE AREAS SUCH AS AT A HUNTING CAMP SHOULD MONITOR FORECASTS VERY CLOSELY AS THIS COULD BECOME A DANGEROUS SITUATION.




I live right on the edge of where they are predicting 2 feet of snow and work is well in the heavier snow areas. I'm guessing we won't be running much if it is as bad as it sounds tomorrow. Maybe they will let me go back home. Whee

Damn, it keeps getting worse. It has probably happened here before but I don't remember ever seeing 35 inches of snow predicted from one storm in November before.

We have about 7 or 8 inches so far since about noon.

The weather here has been really weird too. We've had two really bad windstorms that took out power for a large part of the PNW, the sort of windstorms we usually don't see until Jan or Feb. Now they have freezing temps (hard freeze), snow and ice predicted for the foothills of the Cascades, again something we usually don't see until Jan/Feb.

Makes me think this winter will really suck for everyone.
