Can't tell you how many times they close school because of snow and not 1 flake falls.
When I was in high school, that only happened once when windchill was -40F.
We're on a 2 hr delay tomorrow, due solely to cold (probably single digits)

IMO, they could have kept schools open and if you think it's too cold for your kid, simply keep them home.
But then if a kid dies or something happens, you will never hear the end of it.
I really don't care...I'm not in school and neither is my non-existent kid.
It was 7 degrees when I woke up, with windchill something below 0. That's pretty cold for here. But last night was worse: 15-20 mph winds (plus higher gusts) combined with temps in the teens.
