Anyone following the Carnival Triumph cruise ship story?

Carnival Triumph engine fire; lost power; tug boats pulling it to Mobile, AL.

linly [cbslocal.com]

The 500 or so McDonald's franchisees and executives onboard should at least be used to the conditions if they've spent much time in one of their restaurants.

We cruise on Carnival 5 months from today! laugh out loud (different ship though)

Why are they peeing on the carpet? Can't they just pee off the side of the boat? That's what all the guys do around here when they go fishing.
I think the urine and feces is coming up from the toilets...the ship rocks back and forth, spreading the waste.

Either that or because it's fun. Dontknow

Wait. So there's urine soaking the floor. The walls are disgusting. And there's no sanitation. Why the fark are they towing it to Birmingham, AL then? The conditions aren't any better there! vomit

Not if they're docking in Alabama! Nono2
Are you having superdome flashbacks again?

What? They could be using the new Tug-o-matic 5000. That baby can tug over land and sea. It's also not to be confused with the Tug-o-matic 6000 which is the strongest fleshlight on the market.

Nah. Emergency situation. This requires peeing all over everything whenever possible.

^this. It's in the army field manual.

Quote :
Emergency Operations
Chapter 4, Paragraph 318

At no point during an emergency situation should a soldier venture in to the field of battle by himself. In the event that going outside is deemed dangerous, it is a soldier's duty to urinate on the floor every thirty minutes. This is to help the soldier maintain discipline, stay alert, and tell time should he not be able read a digital clock.

Is it also in there that if it is winter they should be able to write their name, rank and serial number in the snow or is that just a myth?

That was dropped when Panetta allowed females to join combat arms roles. It's apparently too difficult for them or something, so they just adjusted the standard.

Which one can't they remember - name, rank, or serial number?

I thought that was part of field training. I guess that shows how much has changed since I was in. Sadwalk

DH wants to go on a cruise to Alaska. The thought of being stuck on a ship, at the mercy of the weather, the decisions of the crew, and the germs brought on board by the passengers, really messes with the control freak side of me. Cold

I hate flying already because I am supposed to trust a likely drunk pilot. The thought of getting on a ship for days and with my luck running into an absolutely obnoxious person the first of the trip that will not leave me alone the rest of the trip has so far deterred me from considering cruises anything other than torture. Embarrassment

Last lines of linked article:

Passengers aboard the stranded ship will also receive a full refund, the statement said.

Yikes.
