Carnival Triumph engine fire; lost power; tug boats pulling it to Mobile, AL.

The 500 or so McDonald's franchisees and executives onboard should at least be used to the conditions if they've spent much time in one of their restaurants.
We cruise on Carnival 5 months from today!
(different ship though)

My first flight to the USA was a great welcome to the country
I'm no expert but I doubt there is anything more Carnival could have done and I think any cruise line would have handled it the same way. And they are offering reimbursement for the cruise fare and any money spent onboard (except casino), discount on a future cruise, paying for hotels in New Orleans, paying for their travel home, and $500.
Remember, this rarely happens, and you're much more likely to die in the car on the way to the cruise port, and probably more likely to die in an airplane. At least Carnival did contain the fire. True fact: the biggest risk to a cruise ship is fire (not running aground). And many fires are caused by passengers tossing cigarettes overboard and they get blown back in.
What boat?
First thing on my mind would be getting a hot shower. Then I'd want to eat and rest, and finally go home.
I did hear on the news tonight that many of the passengers were making other arrangements on their own.
I don't get the fascination with this.

Is this one of those things where all the news is dismal for a non-event?
