Knitters/Crocheters

I know that there are a few of you.
I have a lot of time on my hands, so I'm attempting some new things. I'm actually using patterns now, where before I just knitted whatever came about. Big Grin

I'm beginning to realize that I only have small needles and I'm becoming a yarn snob.

I knitted a hat for my nephew, one for myself (no patterns), a baby-carrier (no pattern), and now I'm going to start working on some fingerless gloves.

Anyone else? Any deals on good yarn, needles, etc.?

is there a way to save threads that you like? i want to come back here to read through and discuss but i have a gimungo test on friday to study for...

i'm a beginner knitter and planning to be a crocheter (i bought a book to learn but haven't had time to touch...been studying for 4 months for this test!!!)
Yay! i have time now to enjoy stuff. i took my test like 2 weeks ago and i think i have read five books at least since then. Did anyone read the Other Boleyn girl? So good. Sorry that was OT. anyways, now that i have time to partake in crafts, i have a question:

For those that are knitters and crocheters, which one do you like better and why? i am a very beginner knitter (i only know how to knit and purl Coverlaugh) and i bought a book on crocheting but is it really different? is it hard?

and yes, i replied to my own post...hee hee

I can't knit to save my life. It's up to you - whatever you feel more comfortable with! I love that I can drop my crochet and chase a kid and not worry about the whole thing coming undone. Smilie

My latest mesh bag:

It's the same pattern as the last one, only I changed the handle. I sewed the two sides of the handle together instead of tying it. I like this better. I thought the variegated yarn in the middle came out nice.
Oh, I like the look from the varigated yarn too!

It's crotched. I got the pattern from a book. If anyone wants it I can scan the pattern. But just a warning it takes a really long time to make one.

I finished another couple of bags -

here's my first 2 handle bag. It came out bigger than I had hoped, but it'll be nice! Whee

I can't find the picture of the bag I made for DS's teacher - she loves it!

DD knits. She's made some beautiful scarves out of that feathery yarn--all the women in the extended family want one now.

This weekend I got a big white, hand-knitted alpaca throw at an estate sale for twelve bucks. It must have taken ages to knit. *Swoon* Softest. Yarn. Ever.

I'll see if I can get enough contrast with the white & my bad camera to do it justice Smilie

They also had a bunch of big bags of cut alpaca wool for $5 each. I'd have to have found someone to spin them into wool (are there such people?), but I wish I'd bought them for DD! It would be so fun to knit with such soft stuff!

New bag! I love this bag. Two handles and the perfect size for groceries. Now to mass-produce them! Whee

And here's a nifty cool swiffer shrug - you can use it instead of a swiffer cloth. It's got ridges so it'll get stuff off the floor nicely.
