The *official* "Screw you Bill Belichick, get the hell out of my favorite sport, you're ruining the game" thread about the lack any New England Patriots sportsmanship (Now w/ POLL)

Quick open letter to the head coach of the Patriots:

Dear Mr. Bill,

You're the head coach of the best team in football, congratulations on your tremendous efforts. Now fark off and leave the sport to those that do not just consider it simply a business because you're sucking the fun out of the game and ruining this sport for not only fans of the teams you embarass, but kids that are learning about something you seem to totally lack: sportsmanship.

Its easier to explain Janet Jackson's floppy booby during a wardrobe malfunction than the planned and continued deliberate actions taken by the players under your direction. Sure its your job to win games, are you not good enough to do it without constantly skirting the rules, using deception and just out and out farking cheating? You're a dirty, unkempt, embarassment to the game.

Get the hell out of the sport.

Sincerely,
- Fans of the NFL and the ultimate purveyors of your salary
Against which team would Tom Brady most likely suffer a career-ending injury?

New poll should be "Will the Patriots ever win another Super Bowl with Bill Belichick as head coach?"

Ooooo such a big man he is! I wanna be like Bill! Bullshit. I want my kids to succeed and strive to be the best but you're crazy if I'm going to pull this crap.

For example, I'm the first one in the faces of my kids if they say "Ha ha" to an opponent after scoring a goal. There's a big difference between kids just turning 5 and those that are about to hit 6 on the soccer field. Its common courtesy to pull your 6 year olds off if the game has gotten out of hand. I teach competitiveness and sportsmanship and I want my kids to strive for both. Win a game fairly or don't show up and sure as hell don't try to defend actions to the contrary - even if its your team!

You don't measure a man by what he's done, you measure it by how he's done it and who he is.
Rammy, there is a difference between 6 year old's playing baseball or soccer and professionals playing a sport. Are you saying the red sox were just tacking on extra points to bring the other team down when they won the first game of the WS 13-1? This isn't some little league game where kids are worried about their feelings being hurt. The overpaid players can handle soem disappointment, just like kids used to. Now it's all about making kids feel good about themselves. God forbid kids feel some disappointment in their lives.

look the thing is, what if the roles were reversed. What if the patriots weren't a good team (like they had been for many years in the past... the cowboys or someone come into their stadium and run the score up JUST the same way the patriots did. No knee downs or anything.

Would you patriot fans be upset over this? I'm pretty sure yall would be.... Any fan would be. It's disrespectful

I understand this is a no mercy league but there is some respect to be shown. If it happened to your favorite team, you would be in here complaining about xxxx running up the score against your patriots.

Don't even try and tell me you wouldn't.... I have a good point here
Actually, I've spent my entire life watching the patriots get laughed at and humiliated. I was USED to that shit. I was used to having the Patriots destroyed, I never once complained about teams "running up the score".

I was in a bar that was showing a Patriots game and there was a guy wearing a "Belichick for President" t-shirt. I don't really have an opinion of him and the Patriots one way or the other, but I thought the shirt was funny.
Belichick is the Nixon of coaches, aside from opening trade relations with China. He did get the spying down though. Dontknow

I call bullshit. My team went thought this just last week and I could live with the fact that other teams are better than the Fins this year. I was actually proud of the way my team battled and never gave up, even to the point of forcing Brady back into the game. I didn't cry and I am still denfending the Pats.....who also happen to be a division rival. I am not a sore loser. I know that my team's roster is not filled with Pop Warner football players so I shouldn't feel bad if they are steamrolled. Shit happens, move on to the next game.

Did you guys see the 7 points the Redskins scored against the Patriots, I think the Redskins really exposed the Patriots defense, so if the Colts win, we have to give a little credit to the Redskins!!! LOL LOL

Um, the patriot did intentionally try to run up the score.

People refer to the charger VS denver game, the last score was pretty early and there's plenty of time left, it was a rushing TD... not an intentional 4th down and go for it, if it was in deed 4th down they would have punt it.

It's not about the scores, but about the tactic used to get the score, they were up by 4TDs and still tries to go on 4th down, intentionally trying to ram up the score, because even if they don't make it, they will not loose the game (and they know this). But that's their choice, pissing off everyone in the NFL, i'm not gonna touch the intentional hit that might happen, but even if they win the SB no one will see eye to eye and consider them a good champ. The colt did it last year and the team they beat were did not become their enemy, the patriot this year is doing very wierd stuff.

I see this over and over on these threads and its quite annoying.

Why do people dissect and criticize other's grammar, spelling etc?

Does anyone think this adds to the discussion?

Some people aren't english majors...get over it. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

that's because they get hit by the truth right square in the face, they can't possibly write anything to make a comback, so they have to resolve to "do you english much", that's their sign for waving the white flag.

Another theory is Bill Belicheck is trying to get his $500,00 back from the spygate fine by betting on his team. They are 8-0 on the spread so far this year.

I take it that many of you complaining hardly ever watch any college football. Over the years I recall seeing hundreds, if not thousands of games where one team loses by 50-60+ points (sometimes even more). IIRC, Texas beat Rice a few years back something like 70-7 (maybe 63-7?). I've seen similar games in college (something like Penn State beating Temple by 60 points). I say...in college football, you probably shouldn't try to run up the score too much. However, even at the college level, the kids playing are athletes, and they have to be prepared for big losses, so if Florida beats Tennessee-Chatanooga by 80 points, then blame the ADs for scheduling each other.

In the NFL, there is no reason you should feel "limited" to what you can do. These are professional athletes playing. These men are making anywhere from a few hundred thousand to $10+ million to play in a handful of games (ok--a more like a 1.5 dozen) each season. If they suck, and they play a great team (i.e. Patriots, Colts, etc.), tough crap. That is a wake-up call for the owner of the losing team to cut the fat and get better players. It's not the Patriots fault that they are talented.

Honestly, what should they have done on that fourth down conversion? Maybe they should have done this:

Bellicheck: "Ok--tell Brady to run backwards...tell him to run all the way into the end zone and pretend to fumble the ball and let the Redskins pick it up. Then on the kick we are going to all run to one side of the field and let them get 7 more pity points. Come on...call the play!

Let's get real. Nobody did anything wrong. Even Joe Gibbs said the Patriots did nothing wrong, and his team got royally spanked. If you can't handle the game, then get off the damn field.

Oh, one more thing.

I was the Patriots playing the Philadelphia Eagles on Madden '08 last week. I won 84-3. I let them get a pity field goal in the fourth quarter. Maybe Madden should re-program the game so no team can win by more than 7...I wouldn't want to hurt Brian Westbrook's feelings. Frown

I don't think the college football argument holds much weight, since rankings based on subjective analysis are involved. Obviously a team wants to show their dominance in that situation.

Secondly, a coach would never say that the opposing team did something wrong by running up the score...that's embarrasing. shake head

Ummmmm... Indy has a better defense than NE at home and on the road.

Fair enough. But if Boston College is beating Bowling Green 42-0 instead of potentially beating them 56-0 (like they could if they really wanted--just saying in theory), I don't think the poll voters would look down on them much, especially if it is clear that they are dominating.

Secondly, a coach would never say that the opposing team did something wrong by running up the score...that's embarrasing. shake head

Again, fair enough. But he seemed sincere during the press conference. If any team in the NFL is that good, they have every right to beat their opponent. Hell, if the Patriots beat the Rams 100-0, I still think it would be acceptable. Again, it's a wake-up call for the owners to get better players.
