Amazon closed my account

1,923 199 December 4, 2013 at 05:19 AM
So my wife account on Amazon got closed due "continued to request refunds for a significant number of your orders." Basically we had a baby and she was buying and returning stuff, but still keeping a lot of stuff. But I guess they have there reasons, anyway my account which had the same amazon visa card (sharing rewards) also got closed due to being linked to this account. I had student prime and over all loved my account and had good standings. What can I do now ? From reading around I see that they are using the billing address and/or Credit card/Bank information to link accounts, not the delivery address. This really sucks !

Um, no, it's not like saying that AT ALL.
Actually, it's kind of like saying, if his wife gets her car impounded for DWI, then they should impound his car as well, since she will probably just drive drunk in his car.

Not taking sides here or anything. I get why Amazon does it, but I think it's messed up that they do it without warning you first. And I've seen posts that mention they steal your gift card balance when they close your account, which is definitely wrong, even if they are justified in closing your account.

Um, yeah, it's more like saying that ... but don't put words in his mouth, because that is totally NOT what he said. lol

Yes, stealing your gift card balance is pretty bad. I guess a warning would be appropriate, but I think one needs to analyze how that might pan out. I can't see any downsides, but maybe Amazon just wants to cut it's losses and move on. They probably see that people are prone to behave certain ways, and if you warn them, their behavior will just morph into some other form of abuse. Just thinking out loud here.

I think you are missing the point that Amazon bans ANYONE associated with the banned account. If your child had an Amazon account s/he would have been banned too.

It is how Amazon operates.
No I get that just dont agree with it at all

Good thought.

The bottom line is though that it matters little why Amazon does what they do. The end result is the same: people get banned, and many never find out why. You can stomp your feet, yell foul, throw a temper tantrum or even hire a lawyer. None of it is going to help.

As a ps though: I was banned once. I was reinstated, but it was not easy.

Lol much better anology! But same concept. So based on this anyone that ever sent me a gift or used our registry should be banned for life from Amazon ?

Did they send you to an Amazon correctional facility, where you had to pack boxes? Maybe that's where all the messed up packages are coming from in the AWD thread. laugh out loud

We had 2 accounts. One for me, one for my husband. We have twin girls. They had a toy promotion where you got $25 off a wagon. We bought 2, one on each account. They said that was coupon fraud or abuse, or whatever.

I received the same emails, same responses, etc. I escalated it to their executive services or loss prevention (can't remember all details, this was over 6 years ago). I had to prove I had twins, had to have a notarized statement that I bought these items for 2 different people (family members) and that I was not a reseller. I was then put on probation of some sort.

I may remember some of the details wrong.

That's bait and switch if you ask me.

OP, do a charge back on your CC.

Really? DON'T ORDER CLOTHES ONLINE IF YOU CAN'T GET THE SIZING CORRECT! It's not Amazon's fault you are poor at sizing your baby's clothes (and we are giving you the benefit of the doubt that this was simply a sizing issue and not an aesthetic one).

What about changing bottles ? Or proper bottle warmers or other none clothing baby stuff. We changed our baby formula 5 times and bottles since baby was crying none stop first month. Shoes from endless was never a problem until now! So i dont know you guys have your points, and again buisness does have a right to refuse service if they are loosing money on you. But punishing my account that is just out there and what really hurts, my wife is really less upset, there is zappos and other baby stores and such, but I used amazon a lot and it will be a paint if theyll cont closing accounts that I will try to use.

If you struggle to get purchases right a lot though, don't buy online.

Problem solved.
