Need help with my next TV series on Netflix/Amazon Prime

41 17 February 14, 2014 at 07:32 PM
In the last year I've watched all episodes of:
Lost
Heroes
Firefly
Breaking Bad
Dexter
Jericho

and enjoyed all of them immensely. Can't seem to find anything else yet on Netflix or Amazon that would be as good as those shows are. Anyone care to throw out some recommendations based on my top tier shows above? Tried 4400 and another one that I had to quit on lately. Thanks!

Several Loungers agree on:

Six Feet Under
Dexter
Breaking Bad

Unfortunately two of these options are in the OP. Confused

I do have that queued up, I will check it out. Is it just me, or is TV these days much better than movies that come out? I can't recall a movie I've seen lately (either in a Theater or on Netflix) that compares to the shows I've watched this year.

Another vote for Farscape, excellent show, just re-watched the entire series over Christmas.

Am re-watching Eureka right now.

Life on Mars. Best one-season show I've seen, you can watch it on a weekend.

Disagree The UK version was much, much better. Plus it ran for two seasons and came to a proper ending.

Yeah I'd like to see Game of Thrones, but it is not on Netflix or Amazon Prime. I gave Freaks and Geeks and Terriers both a 3 episode trial run but they didn't make the cut. Farscape will be the next one up. I also have Mad Men, Arrested Development, 24, Fringe,Damages, and Friday Night Lights queued up for later. I'll check out the other recommendations.

I really liked Lost and Breaking Bad, but Dexter really jumped to the top of the pack for me.

Yeah I heard about the ending to that one.

They had to do it differently in the US to even be approved to air LMAO

Sorry, didn't know it wasn't on there.

You liked Dexter better than Breaking Bad? I watched all of breaking bad this year, and have been thinking of going to Dexter.

It's been a long time, but I really enjoyed Farscape.

Yeah, I really liked Dexter. A lot of people didn't like how it ended, but I did. They could have gone in any one of a dozen directions, and they picked one. Came right out of left field for me, which I can appreciate. I watched all 96 episodes in four weeks, so you can tell it really got its hooks into me.

Some good choices there. FYI on Farscape, the show was canceled abruptly, even though it still had good ratings. Crazy Aussies!

But the Farscape crew wanted to wrap up the whole story line and eventually managed to get funding for a three hour mini-series to do just that. It's called Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars, and last time I checked it wasn't available on instant watch but the DVD set is only $7.94 on Amazon. Warning: Since you haven't watched the TV series yet, don't look at the mini-series DVD on Amazon yet as there are spoilers on the Amazon page!
