you dont get the right to feel insulted, u have been warned...

so, peeps, if you dont believe in god, do you feel that ones that do are delusional?

a lot of people will sight karma or other things as 'he got what he had coming' but i argue that it's all a mathematical randomness that on a small scale might seem like karma

perfect example is: when you play poker and u push with the best hand, a LOT of times, you can predict/be so sure that the card will come that will beat you even if the chance of it coming is less than 1:6. when the card comes, some might argue it as karma, but i argue that its all random, just on a small scale randomness doesn't work

discuss....

when did I say you did... i don't like words being put in my mouth either... this person just stated this....it is their opinion so why be offended.

well maybe I take the capitalization of g_d to be offensive... maybe you take the way I use g_d as offensive... you can't appease everyone...all this PC crap has really afflicted people IMHO. You say g_d exists although one can't prove this pragmatically. I would say along with this poster that g_d is a fictional character or being.

right it was out of feeling... doesn't mean it was a direct attack at you or anyone on this board....just a general feeling the op was expressing.
You didn't, unliketherest did. I felt like she was putting words in my (our) mouth(s).

I don't know...maybe it's just the way I read it...but you saying 'fictional character' comes across as sharing your opinion. The way it was previously said felt condescending.

I think her message was fairly apropos to how many look upon Christianity or religion in general, but her post should speak loudly to Drio and Max about why certain prerequisites were established where God is concerned. If Unliketherest opted at the 12th hour to knock upon heaven's door after going through life with that attitude, why would God be compelled to open it and let her in? She doesn't know God or relate to Him, therefore, He would not recognize her.
Yea, I'd say she summed it up quite well. You're right.(for me)

I chose to forgive someone today. I had already forgiven them... but today it was done formally, if you will. I recieved the same in kind. This person has spoken out against me... and I against them. (on multiple occasions) I guess since we're only made in His image... we should be less understanding and compassionate to be more like Him.

Screw you! You person I forgave earlier today.... you know who you are...

It sounds like you're trying to be funny...but the Bible teaches forgiveness.

To each his own opinion...but I consider God quite compassionate and understanding. There is nothing he will not forgive. He only has one requirement (a few related parts to it). I find that quite reasonable.

I think I'd like your god.
I think I might like PG's god, but your's and her's are pretty close.
I don't think I'd like BrnHntr's god.

So it's hard for me to generate responses to all 3 of you, because you all have different interpretations of what god really is.

By what I understand she would not have to acknowledge god while she's alive and still have a CHANCE to go to heaven, by BrgnHntr's interpretation of god, he'd send her to hell since she didn't acknowledge him while she was alive.
From what I read, all three of us have the same basic interpretation (some minor details that don't really change the outcome). Maybe I missed something, but I think all three of us believe that time is up when you die.

It would be great if you could die and have it absolutely drawn out and proven to you and then earn your way in...but like I said before (and you liked then), Christianity isn't a works driven religion. You can't earn your way into Heaven, it's all about accepting a gift in your lifetime.

All three of you believe that, but the "requirements" to get into heaven vary.

IMO Peachyum's god is more compasionate/merciful, understanding than your god. (i.e. your god has stronger requirements) in my understanding.

OR it could just be the way each of you is explaining what you think. (But I think that each of you has a different interpretation).

I'm not disagreeing with you, I just didn't notice where the differences are. Would you show me?

You keep saying that.... but you know.... everyone that's not Christian seems to be having a hard time seeing it.

I know I can't make you see it. It's just my opinion that it's a small requirement for such a gift. Believe and accept in return for an eternity in a peaceful place. It feels like paying a penny for a billion dollars to me.

evidently your g_d doesn't forgive those who don't embrace him and then die. Therefore there is something he will not forgive.

Also I believe one of the other stipulations was that you cannot live a life of sin...this of course is different from sinning. For instance some interpreters indicate being gay is living a life of sin ...even accepting jesus won't save you because you "choose" to live a life of sin.

and if that place ends up not existing what then? how much has it cost you?

Also another philosophical point would be...what if we have no previous knowledge of our past life? I know the bible talks about going to an awesome totally sweet pad just you, JC, g_d and a few billion other peeps drinking brews...but does it talk about past memories...like when you do you will retain all the earthly information.

If you do not it seems kind of moot what kind of life you led and had.

I can't find the exact post, maybe I haven't went far back enough. But basically i thought that Peachyum (you know what... maybe it was PG), that their god would still accept you into heaven if you asked for forgiveness and didn't believe in him for your whole life (or up until the last second).*

*maybe I understood wrong (wont be the first time)

Also Peachyum's god doesn't have hell (no torment in the afterlife, just a big dark nothing)

Quick question. But I thought the title meant this thread was intended only for people who were NOT religious. So why so many religious people posting? I'm not trying to be rude, but just curious. Because I don't understand how someone can discuss their feelings of non-religion with religious peopleConfused Just wondering the intent of this thread, because I see it going downhill fast. You can't have 2 different religious believers/non-believers in a thread without an argument breaking out.
Just wondering, because I for one will not discuss my opinions about religion with highly religious people for this reason. I personally don't want to hear their side or be made to feel like they know better and the rest of us go to hell. Like I said just curious to the threads intentions.

Iconian, did you make this thread for people to see both sides or just for non-believers to discuss their reasons..ect...sorry I'm just confused here.
