The video of the kid getting punched is sooo hard to watch. Frown

If this were my child, I would sue the school, the parents of the kid that hit him, AND the kids that cheered. Mad

You implied the comments made about TV and video games (specifically mine) were a result of creating this thread which was wrong. He pointed out that the thread was fine, it was the dumb comment made after the fact that sparked the backlash which is right.

You lose.
Her creation of this thread caused her to post that comment. A lounge thread never stays on topic, every lounger knows that.

TV and movies was always violent. Maybe more so years back. Saturday morning cartoons were filled with violent content when I was a kid. We laughed and then went outside and playing baseball or something. It's a bullshit excuse for TV, movies, music, etc... to take the blame.
You know why kids behave like such little shits these days? Because when they behave like that, instead of blaming the kids and forcing them to take responsibility for their own actions, parents blame TV/movies/video games and essentially send the message to the kids that they are not to blame for their own actions. Since they never have to accept responsibility for acting like little shits, they have no incentive not to continue acting like little shits.

If you want your kid to stop behaving badly, don't blame their bad behavior on everything under the sun except them. Tell them to own the consequences of their own damn decisions and teach them to learn from their mistakes and change their behaviors.

all those violences have existed long before now. Scarface came out in '81, Godfather series started in '72, Mortal Kombat was released in '92, Duke Nukem in '91. look at the violence in Looney Tunes?

the TV, movie, and video game argument is a cop-out.
Fatty Arbuckle raped a woman with a wine bottle during the silent film era.

I think there is a HUGE difference between filming something that you know isn't real, i.e., movies and television, vs. filming something that is very real, as was the case here. Where is the compassion for the kid being beaten? Where's the concern for their well-being?

The movie 8MM made me uneasy. Sleepers made me angry. Passion of the Christ made me cry. But I know the actors were just acting, no one was actually harmed in the making of the movie.

I could NEVER stand by and watch something like this. Even as a woman (and especially as a mother), I would have died trying to defend that child even though I don't know him.

I've been playing violent games for 25+ year, and they never drove me to violence.
This all has much more to do with lack of parental discipline, and a lack of respect than anything else.
