I haven't had cable in about 2+ years.

I use:
Hulu Plus
Netflix
and have procured login access to HBOGo, Showtime, NBCSports, and ESPN.
Further, I pay yearly for MLB and NHL subscriptions.

All of the above can be watched right from my AppleTV.

I work from home and cannot stand background noise..laugh out loud The quieter the better. The TV doesn't go on till the hubby comes home.

We also have all the channels, including movies and sports package. So it would be tough to replicate but I find we don't watch most of it and even when we try there is nothing worthwhile on anymore.
The only sports I ever watch is football on Sundays if the Buccaneers play, which for the past couple of seasons, they haven't been...

How long does it take for shows to come on Hulu? And do you end up streaming any network shows on their sites( abc, cbs, etc) or just wait for them on hulu.
I found a lot of shows we DVR, we weren't watching right away anyways. Sometimes not for days.
If it's a show hulu keeps current with, it's available to watch the day after it airs.

No, I don't watch stuff on network sites. I just download those shows.

(Satellite boxes don't have to be close to each other to work. You each buy your own dish, just the boxes have to be under the same account. Shhh, I didn't tell you about anything illegal to do.)

Yeah, about the only thing I ever put on is Law and Order for my afternoon nap...it's just enough diversion to distract me from all the other crap I could be doing enough to fall asleep...
Which law and order? The only one I ever liked was SVU.

I was under the impression with AppleTV you had to buy everything from itunes. So it has apps on it too?

My TV is on sports most the weekend, it drives me nuts. laugh out loud

i've only had cable for about 2.5 years...before that i used to just use an antenna and the network sites for things i didn't watch live, as since i'd never had cable (ever, not even growing up) i wasn't addicted to any of those premium shows to begin with laugh out loud

I am/was a fan of the original series when Brisco and Green were the primary detectives, and SVU...SVU is what's on USA during my nap time...

Yeah, eight bucks a month.

They keep slowly adding in more commercials to each break though, and that's seriously pissing me off. I'm debating cancelling. laugh out loud

It used to be 1-2 commercials per break when I first got them years ago, now I've seen 4 or even 5. Mad

I'd rather they just increase the fee a buck or two and just spare me the crappy commercials.

Thats the crazy part, we barely watch a lot of TV. Maybe a handful of ABC shows and of course Walking Dead. laugh out loud Then just whatever movie is on when flipping through. Most we've seen 50 or so times. Embarrassment

So you don't ever catch it?

I like it a lot, I just can't watch too much of it, otherwise it keeps me up at night. I get scared easily. Embarrassment

Direct TV will sell you service without a contract at their retail (buttrape) prices

no wires are needed for Direct TV and Dish Network AFAIK. I know people who shares DirectTV without any issues. You'll just have to install the dish on your own.

These threads are always the same, but I just keep reading them. Netflix has L&O, Sherlock, and cartoons, so I'm set.

I really don't watch it enough to justify the expense. Amazon's offerings are awesome if you like organized access to PBS/BBC content.
