Anyone done it? If so what are you using for movies, tv shows, etc? ( not torrent sites Stick Out Tongue )

I'm cancelling cable and was wondering what everyone uses these days. Hulu, Netflix, HD Antenna, Chromecast, Roku? Dontknow

i wouldn't sign up for prime *just* for it but i enjoy quite a few shows i can stream via amazon prime. my bluray player has apps for that as well as many of the other major streaming site (hulu, netflix, etc like you mentioned). my wii also has apps for that too, so you may not need to get any new equipment to stream from your services of choice, depending on what you already have around.

Yeah my Samsung TV has all those apps, plus we have the xbox with apps.

( I am a secondary on Prime, so not going that route and having to pay for Prime..lol )

If it were up to me, I'd cancel cable. I find the only thing I regularly watch on tv other than what I actively look for on Netflix or Prime is Law and Order...

There's really nothing we can't get that another service doesn't offer anyways.

I cancelled mine last Saturday, only kept Comcast internet. I have prime, bought Ooma for a home phone and I have a roku 3 on the way. I'm considering an outdoor digital antenna for local programming. Other than the major sports, I only watch survivor and can get that on cbs.com. $140/month savings adds up quick. May purchase NHL game center with one months savings.

Yeah we watch a lot of sports too. And mostly network shows. We're thinking HD Antenna and a supplemental streaming service.

I had an original Ooma but haven't used it in a long time. Tried to hook it up over the weekend and its been deactivated. So they want $9 to hook it back up and now monthly taxes because its no longer under the old TOS. So I am looking at the ObiHai since no fees and can use Google Voice. Plus I don't use home phone enough to care.

The wife works from home and is kinda set on keeping it for background noise sorts of shows like HGTV or the Food Network stuff...

I got rid of cable about 8 years ago. We just have Netflix and hulu now. We do also use the Pirate bay, but most of what we want is on one of the other two.

Cable is so not a slick deal. I can't ever foresee wanting to have it again. Yucky

I work from home and cannot stand background noise..laugh out loud The quieter the better. The TV doesn't go on till the hubby comes home.

We also have all the channels, including movies and sports package. So it would be tough to replicate but I find we don't watch most of it and even when we try there is nothing worthwhile on anymore.

That would drive me CRAZY to have the TV on all the time. Any time I go to my dad's house, it's always on. I don't know how he stands it. laugh out loud

If I don't want the quiet, music is infinitely better.

How long does it take for shows to come on Hulu? And do you end up streaming any network shows on their sites( abc, cbs, etc) or just wait for them on hulu.
I found a lot of shows we DVR, we weren't watching right away anyways. Sometimes not for days.

Share satellite with the neighbor?

Also, a lot of sports is streamed now. You can buy some sports packages for streaming too.

But sharing with neighbor seems like the best and legalest way that I see.

Yeah, about the only thing I ever put on is Law and Order for my afternoon nap...it's just enough diversion to distract me from all the other crap I could be doing enough to fall asleep...

The houses are kinda far apart, so I don't see us doing that. laugh out loud
