Formula 1 the 2015 edition ****Mercedes is suing their Senior Engineer**** (post 172)

Huh Scratchhead

Formula One racing's governing body, the FIA, has revealed details of a new Super Licence points system, making it harder for drivers to become eligible for F1 competition.

From 2016, drivers must have accumulated 40 points over a three-year period, with points allocation based on which other motorsport series they have participated in and the level of results they achieved.

Drivers will have also have to be at least 18-years old, have spent at least two years in junior single-seater categories, hold a valid road driver's licence and pass a test on the Formula One sporting regulations. The existing requirement of completing 300 kilometres in a recent F1 car also remains.

*snip*

If such a system had been in place ahead of 2015, new Toro Rosso signing Max Verstappen would be ineligible to race in F1 this year, having accrued just 20 points by finishing third in the 2014 FIA F3 European championship - the 17-year-old's only season of car racing to date.

Alonso will miss the opening race of the season.

Some sites (no mainstream sites yet) are also reporting that when Alonso woke after the crash he thought it was 1995, that he was 13 years old and still a kart racer.

Cold Couldn't do without F1 coverage. On the upside of getting Time Warner, they seem to have pulled ahead of Comcast, or I guess more correctly, Comcast has gone downhill more, passing TW.

Update on the Alonso memory thing...

The Telegraph has published the story, they're a reputable paper and wouldn't print it if it weren't true. However, based on everything I've read, his memory is back but the doctors said if he had another hard blow before he fully gets over this severe of a concussion it could be fatal. So that's why he's not going to be in the season opener.

Quote :

McLaren chairman Ron Dennis admitted last week Alonso suffered retrograde amnesia, which he said was "not uncommon" in cases like this.

Asked who he was, what his job was, and what he hoped to do with his life, Alonso reportedly replied: "I'm Fernando, I drive go karts and I want to be a Formula One driver." Alonso apparently could not remember making his Formula One debut with Minardi in 2001, or either of his world championships in 2005 and 2006.

Time seems to be flying by, seems like it was just the other day when the last race of 2014 finished.

Haven't really been following this story but an Australian court ruled that Sauber has to allow the Dutch driver Geido van de Garde to drive. However Sauber has said previously that they would pull out of the Australian race rather than let him drive. Plus there's the whole issue of him not having a super-license. Dontknow

jalopnik's stef schrader has on sunning update going about this:
http://blackflag.jalopnik.com/how...jasontorch

cliff notes:
Sauber may have all their in country assets seized if GVDG isnt allowed to drive by the team

Sauber's team principle, Monisha Kaltenborn may be facing jail time for contempt charges

GVDG HAS been fitted for a seat and HAS been seen walking the paddock wearing Sauber team coveralls (possibly Marcus Erricsson's)

Sauber is the reason GVDG doesn't have a superlicense as the team has to apply for it and Sauber had his cancelled at the end of the 2014 season.

Sauber did not participate in Free Practice 1 with ANY drivers.

Nasr and Erricsson both participated in Free Practice 2 concurrent with the Contempt of Court proceedings.

BTW, this is what you get when you think you are smarter than others Monisha and will most likely cost you your job.
Having two drivers under contract and then hiring two more and finding the most weasel of ways to get out of the old contracts just so you can have the money during the offseason that the new drivers bring in to pay your costs is a bullshit move and you knew it.

Funny how they had no problem paying you your $4 million dollar salary.

Update o nthe Sauber saga.

GVDG has dropped the Contempt of Court action against Sauber as his lawyers and Saubers lawyers (the real ones, not Monisha playing as one again) have begun negotiations to a settlement.

At this time it is expected that Sauber will race with their current drivers in Australia and a settlement will be reached, most likely in terms of a huge pile o cash, with GVDG in the interim of this weekend and the next race weekend.

This DOES NOT mean that Sauber is off the hook as the court's decision on the legality of GVDG;s contract still stands and his complaint against Sauber for breach of contract has NOT been dropped.

Hope that big ole pile o money Erricsson and Nasr brought to the table is big enough to make the expected 7 figure payout AND still pay the bills.

Might be time to fire the team principle for just all around lack of thought and lack of intelligence at this point.

My guess is they know the still have huge problems with the Honda power unit so why risk him when you can just throw K-Mag in there and get someone that has race experience and car experience and knows how to communicate that his engine blew up just as much as Alonso does.

Well when the field is five cars down before the race even starts, you know it's gonna be a wacky race.
