At this time of year, I'm a real sucker for holiday stories, stuff that you can read in an hour. Books such as the Angel series from Debbie Macomber. I find I can make that 50th tray of Christmas cookies after a laugh or two.

I love C&H and have all the books. I have some of the t-shirts, too.

I was so sad when Bill Watterson stopped writing them. Weeping

I just finished 'Flesh House' by Stuart MacBride. It would make a great tv movie.

And am now reading 'Industrial Magic' by Kelley Armstrong.

Thumbup I have almost all of the Calvin & Hobbes books.

The Salmon of Doubt [wikipedia.org] I had to re-read it when I heard the blasphemous news about another Hitchhikers' book commissioned by Douglas Adams' estate.

Next book will be The Lives Our Mothers Leave Us: Prominent Women Discuss the Complex, Humorous, and Ultimately Loving Relationships They Have with Their Mothers [amazon.com]. Marg Helgenberger has a section talking about her mother. I love the excerpt I've read.

I just finished The Last Centurion [thelastcenturion.com] by John Ringo (TS I think you'd really enjoy that one, btw) and I'm halfway through Robert Rankin's Necrophenia [fantasticfiction.co.uk] just now.

I love to read so much and it kills me to find out that 25% of Americans did not read a book at all in 2006 [washingtonpost.com].

Dude, you will love it, I'm not even kidding. If I hadn't already lent my copy to my dad I'd offer it to you.

Ringo is my new favorite author. You should check out his blog [gen.nz] sometime but his sci-fi is awesome. Centurion isn't *quite* sci-fi though. I read it in 3 days, couldn't put it down. It's near-future when the Earth gets hit by 2 simultaneous disasters: widespread outbreak of H5N1 bird flu (that's killing people) and a mini-ice age within a year of each other.

Oh, and a liberal female president in the USA.

Get it. Srsly. You'll love it.
