You would think my house would smell like heaven with all the deals that I got for Airwick, Glade, Lysol, and Febreze. Before couponing, I would never looked twice at spending an outrageous amount on smelly gadgets that cost over $10 and last only a few weeks. Then, to spend about $5 more for the refills. Now, I have more smelly things in the house for the house and the body than the store's shelves.

I've wrapped up Glade candles and airwick dispensers and stuff like that. Some body wash. Hope everyone likes it!
I totally would have crawled under that car to get my receipt, and then I probably would have been arrested for suspicion of planting a bomb or something.
Lots of people don't care for the SB shower cleaner, but I really like it. OK, it's not as good as, you know, actually scrubbing the shower with your hands, but I think it does the trick in between real cleanings. I'd probably be disappointed though if I actually paid $20 for it.
So what is the deal in the shower thing? I don't have one --- but I would like one --- except where do you put your shampoo if you hang that from your showerhead?

I know you didn't ask me, but IMHO, I don't see it being a problem returning something for $12 when your OOP was $70. It's when the OOP's get down to $10-$20 from $100 or more, that's a problem. Especially when your return will net more than your OOP in the first place.
Hey I have a question - I have never returned jewelry - but if you return it the store has to throw it away like food???? That seems crazy! Can't they clean the necklace or whatever in that cleaner stuff they use? What is the logic of throwing away jewelry? Sorry - I read this and was just confused!
jewelry for the most part is not resaleable once it gets returned to the store. earrings definitely not, because of hygiene issues and most stores will not even do returns for those. and definitely not anything else that comes back without packaging, scanning upc, pricetag, etc. as for having to just throw it away - the particular vendor my store got higher end jewelry from did not accept returns from us. therefore yes, we did have to scan it out as defective, break it up into pieces (so people wouldn't want to steal it from our garbate) and throw it away.
so i would say what happens to jewelry when it gets returned would depend on what company the retailer gets their supply from. if the vendor issues credit for defects the jewelry would not get thrown away (it would just come off a future invoice to give the store credit). but it would most likely would never end up on the sales floor to be resold again.
same thing with makeup - even if it looks unopened it is automatically defected out because of hygiene issue. most makeup lines do back up their product though and WILL reimburse retailers for damages. so trying a new product, different shade, etc you shouldn't feel guilty about returning if you don't like it - as a cos manager i always told my customers this so they would feel more positive about trying our new products. we didn't have testers, and it really is difficult to 'recommend' a particular product or shade when everyone's skin type is different and reacts differently to the item/ color (especially when you've never attended cosmetology school, and your employer does not pay for your education). anyhow, this is why a color can look so good on someone else but blah on you.
back to the jewelry question though. overall i would never recommend buying jewelry as a gift for someone unless you really know them well. so much jewelry comes back just because it was an unwanted gift. doing this alone would cut back on so much damaged/ uncredited merchandise when it need not have been so.
that being said, i didn't care if people returned jewelry to my store. (i did receive credit for most of the jewelry i carried)
i did care about that particular lady though because she was a 'repeat offender' - and i do mean she had done it several times within a relatively short period of time, with my high end jewelry (and was affecting my dept. sales and in turn my paycheck!). it really would have been so much easier if i hadn't had to even carry the expensive stuff, so i wouldn't have to worry about not getting credit for damages, and profit loss. but, i always had to have what corporate told me to carry so.. whatever.
