Q's CVS Lounge

I changed the name of the thread because I think that Q's CVS Lounge gives a better representation of what the thread is about. This isn't a deals thread although I will sometimes be posting deals. I'll probably talk more about Transylvania and the stock market than I will about the drugstores but the main thing is that is that I want this to be a cool place to hang out.

According to an analyst for Fortune, if the Walgreens/Rite Aid merger goes through Walgreens will end up closing up to 3000 stores most of which will be Rite Aid locations.
then what's the point of a merger? might as well just let it go thru bankruptcy. much cheaper method of picking up scrips.

we are getting a new wags about 4 miles away. it will now be the closest standalone pharmacy to me. however i'm getting a new high tech supermarket which will be about 2 miles away and quite close to a target which will put a lot of pressure on it since it's one of the low volume high priced ones. i'm hoping the supermarket will be a *world class* one which will mean it's larger with more selection, but probably not. they do have a lot of acreage b/c either it will be by itself or they are building a totally new plaza and they will be the first tenant, so they can build whatever and however big they want. we are all impatiently waiting. they got approval over 2 yrs ago and they are still putting in utilities.

Thanks, maybe I'll check out Haggen tomorrow. Jason fragrance free variety is hard to find. I can handle some natural fragrance, but not all. I can't tolerate lavender or tea tree oil.

I don't know how you can buy all the scented products for your sale. I wouldn't even be able to handle having any stinky axe or old spice products in my car on the drive home.

Who buys Old Spice? I get lots of Axe but unless it spills I'm fine.

For RA, to get out of debt. For Wags, to pick up pharmacy customers. There's also a rumor that RA will have to pay Wags a huge (and I mean huge) penalty if the deal falls
through. This is why I said earlier that Wags can't lose with this deal (if the rumor is infact true).

I certainly don't buy Old Spice, but it is popular with young boys. The smell reminds me of old men because that's who wore it when I was a teenager. Only P&G's marketing could make that popular again. As for Axe, when I smell it I think it's hard to believe someone actually thinks their body odor smells worse than that.

Don't remind me. I was thinking about making a big play on Habit when the stock dropped down to 24 yesterday. They were really busy over the summer and even with the charity promotion they did I figured that they'd have an earnings beat. I decided on doing the clearance at Haagen instead. Facepalm I'm totally done with the stock market. I can't make any money if I never go in and I never do so I just waste my time looking at quotes.

Old Spice was red hot 4 or 5 years ago (back when there were some great Old Spice coupons) but its popularity has great cooled off. Axe is still very popular. I like some scents and can't stand some of the others. Dark Temptation is probably the most popular but I think it smells horrible.

I'm having the beauty club "drop off" of some of my cards. This has happened before and it's extremely frustrating. You lose the beauty club tracking for the transaction you just did plus whatever tracking you had for the next reward. Yet another reason to "love" CVS...

Ah, the summer of 1980. Here's a killer track from Morning Dance by Spyro Gyra.

I checked out 2 Haggen today, one had no Jason and the other just had bodywash. Even at 30% off it was still too pricey for me.

I tried using baking soda and vinegar but I didn't like it, maybe I was doing something wrong.
i've read that people who move straight from shampoo to no-poo deal with dry, straw-like hair for a couple of weeks while body chemistry adjusts.
I had a long adjustment and didn't do it gladly but my hair has stayed soft
First time hair fell out a hairdresser friend of mine said to stop cheap shampoos and gave me a big bottle of Redken FatCat
I used baking soda first "shampoo", then washed it out with Redken. B-soda really made it foam up so I literally only needed dime size spot of Redken.
but after 2 years, hairGot int he car, looked in rearview mirror and could see baking soda had turned white again as it dried. Looked like high school play version of gray hair

Bakiing soda can have a slight lightening effect if you leave it in for awhile. I like it, makes my grays blend in better and makes them more silvery. I leave it in 5-10 minutes while I bathe but if you don't want lightening, just pour it on and rinse it out.

baking soda from hair>>bath water means no bath ring too

I was hoping it would violate anti-trust laws and I hope RA couldn't be held responsible for that! remember the big ol' conglomerates of our youth? they had some funny combinations b/c they weren't allowed to buy any like business - which was a better interpretation of anti-trust as far as I'm concerned. But I guess some companies still needed to be huge, thus one umbrella over golf balls, missiles & meat and people with no experience of an industry buying and managing companies.
Still think it was better for consumers & competitive prices than what is allowed now

When Axe came out, there was some great deal for movie tix @ WAGs - free tix wyb 3? -and everyone reported gagging over the smell.
I thought they must have re-formulated it but it must have been hypnotic marketing..

OS at least isn't a bad smell- liked it when I was a little girl but even then it was associated with Grandpa. Doesn't seem appropriate for young guys. Marketing again, I guess

i'm allergic to the isothiazolinone preservative family. in the US it's usually found as methylisothiazolinone either separately or together with cloromethylisothiazolinone in almost all body washes, shampoos and conditioners, and dishwashing liquids, including all the more natural brands like method, seventh generation, etc. it's an acquired allergy from exposure so i wasn't born with it, or developed it naturally. MIT and CMIT are sensitizers and cause the allergy in some people. it's increasingly being used in products like laundry detergent, paint, hvac units, etc.

i get a horrible rash on the backs of my hands that bleeds and is so itchy i literally cannot sleep at night if i have a severe reaction. b4 i figured out it i was allergic to pantene, my hair was also falling out.

over the years there are less and less dishwashing liquids i can use b/c they reformulate them. i was able to use sunlight for many yrs but then they changed it 3-4 yrs ago. dawn pure essentials also succumbed and the latest this yr is palmolive pure+clear. the only palmolive left that doesn't contain MIT is the orange antibacterial. but it smells up your entire kitchen when you use it now. you can use dr bronner's but trader joe's only carries peppermint which is kinda weird to use on dishes and it's really expensive elsewhere. since they usually don't put the ingredients on dishwashing liquids, it's a lot of effort to find products that don't have it. but since the smell of the palmolive antibacterial is overwhelming, i'm going to have to do some research.

luckily softsoap liquid handsoap is safe but going out anywhere and washing my hands is a gamble. i haven't gotten to the point where i bring my own soap yet but i may have to on a lanyard.

i used to use olay body wash w/ shea butter but several years ago they reformulated. i tried avalon organics but i need a very moisturizing body wash at least half the year so i have reverted back to using bar soap.

for shampoo and conditioner, some but not all of the garnier fructis line is free of MIT and CMIT, so i have to check the labels. whenever i can get it for 1.00 for 13oz i stock up. i had to sell off my small shampoo and conditioner stockpile and now i have to pay for it almost all the time.
that's a lot of challenges! I'm wondering if using something different to cleanse your hands might be better, like spray with hydrogen peroxide?
My bro used to make goat milk soap--wonder if you could find some farmer to trade with...
