Q's CVS Lounge

I changed the name of the thread because I think that Q's CVS Lounge gives a better representation of what the thread is about. This isn't a deals thread although I will sometimes be posting deals. I'll probably talk more about Transylvania and the stock market than I will about the drugstores but the main thing is that is that I want this to be a cool place to hang out.

I checked out 2 Haggen today, one had no Jason and the other just had bodywash. Even at 30% off it was still too pricey for me.
Markdown days are Sunday and Wednesday. Most of the stores are on different markdown schedules so the next store may be at 60% off. It's a gamble to do the driving. At 30% there's nothing to buy because the price is off of full retail.

I was hoping it would violate anti-trust laws and I hope RA couldn't be held responsible for that!
Now it's coming out that they will have to sell up to 3000 stores.

IWhen Axe came out, there was some great deal for movie tix @ WAGs - free tix wyb 3? -and everyone reported gagging over the smell.
I thought they must have re-formulated it but it must have been hypnotic marketing..

OS at least isn't a bad smell- liked it when I was a little girl but even then it was associated with Grandpa. Doesn't seem appropriate for young guys. Marketing again, I guess
The Axe deals I liked were $10 RR wyb $30 with bogo q's. This was, of course, in the days of no limits. OS spice also had the $10/$30 deals with bogo q's and no limits. Fusion razors were free every week at CVS and most weeks at Wags (not to mention the Target deals). There were tons of bogo q's for Olay and it was usually free, too. Toothpaste was always free and no 2 week expiration on the Colgate q's. Airwick was always free with the $4 mini starter kit q's. At Kmart, you could get half of the store for free on doubles days. I remember right after the coupon show started I wanted to see if you could actually walk into a random grocery store and buy 100 toothbrushes for free so I tried it and you could. I think my total including tax was $2.38. I remember the lady behind me going wow, you saved a lot of money but it's too much work for me.

Then you had all of the mm deals like meters and Almay. Dove and Neutrogena used to be pretty good, too, and then there were all of the medicine deals. The biggest issue with shopping at Wags was how to spend your RR's before they expired in 2 weeks...

Then there were the old days of CVS where they would gladly take their store coupons. I'd scan my card at the machine and get a $5/$25, $10/$40, and two 25% off's. The bogo's would auto for the max amount. It wasn't even that long ago.

And then there was RA when Wellness started and there were no limits. Wait, I think you could only do 28 ups deals in one transaction. I ran into that once... laugh out loud

The RA days before Wellness were pretty good, too, with rebates, $5/$25 coupons, and all of the Schick deals. RA used to have some really strange deals where you'd have to go all over the store looking for stuff.

Shopping today is...

Sir, you can't use a store $4 off $10 coupon on a $9.99 razor. What are you, crazy? Security, escort this "person" out of the store...

Ah, now back to doing my nails. I hope no more customers come up to the register...

Rank your stores from worst to best

1. Wags - the least friendly by far

2. WM - a close second

3. Target - always a problem

4. CVS - always a problem but at least CVS is a little nicer about it

5. RA - way too many beeping coupons

I don't really coupon at many different stores. Mostly ShopRite & CVS. There are 5 CVS's within 10 minutes of my house/job. I'll also do Stop & Shop when they have a good deal (free Minions cereal was the last time I was there). I tend to spend too much $ at Target so even when there are deals I still avoid the place. There's only one Walmart in the county and it's at least 20 minutes away. Not worth the trouble. So my list would be:

1 ShopRite - limit of 4 like coupons/transaction, store has cracked down on back to back orders
2 CVS - ninja cashier at store nearest me makes it much easier

It varies from week to week, today I'm liking Wags.

You might like Haagen tomorrow. They were putting up signs tonight for a markdown in the morning. The store I was at will be at 70% off. Some idiot (or idiots) came in on Saturday morning and wiped out health and beauty at 50% off. I absolutely don't understand it. Suave pro shampoo was $4.69 before discount. That's the small bottle not the large one. They paid $1.69 for 2 after the $3/2 q. Who would do that? Rookie couponers I guess. It will be free or a mm tomorrow (with the new markdown) if I can find any. So stupid. If they hadn't bought all of the stuff on Saturday, the markdown would've happened today but since the store did so well they decided to wait another day... Facepalm

I looked at the back of a Cerave today and it's made by Valeant Pharmaceuticals. I may have to stop getting Cerave even if it's a mm.

The hot deal at CVS this week is the Revlon shadowlink. There are $3 and $4/$15 crt's for Revlon cosmetics. The Revlon crt worked fine yesterday but today it came up not valid on shadowlinks. It was yellow not red. There are 2 crt's. The ones I have say all cosmetics but there's another one (which I've seen but don't have) that says excludes shadowlinks. It sucks that CVS excludes shadowlinks on coupons that say all.

In all the years I've shopped at RA, I've never tried this before. Loreal facial cleansers are shampoo were both on sale for bogo 50%. I wanted to see if I got one of each if the bogo 50% would still work but unfortunately both rang up at full price.

I found enough small Ceraves at one store to do the $10/$30 deal. The Ceraves were a $1.50 mm plus I got the $10 in points.

I hope nobody from RA (um, I mean Wags) is reading this... laugh out loud

I know what you mean, I was shocked to see how the shelves were cleared at both F&E and Haggen when they were 10-20% off. I was hoping for picking up some items at 90% off, but that's not going to happen.

The last day at most stores is next Monday. I don't mind missing out on the stuff but it made no sense to buy it on Saturday. I was there today at 6 am for the next markdown and I went to 3 stores. Nothing spectacular but I did ok. Just be careful with the prices. I had 2 things ring up wrong today that lost I $16 on. $10 with some vitamins and $6 with Skintimate. I caught the Skintimate mistake right after I paid (but there wasn't anything I could do about it) and I figured out the vitamin mistake just now.

Master, I'm excited...

Why is that, Igor?

The presidential rebate is on tonight. They're going to send us money.

No, Igor. It's a debate not a rebate... Facepalm

What's a debate, Master?

It's where the candidates discuss who has the best plan for the country.

I like the plan where they send us money...

No, Igor. That's the Democratic debate. Tonight it's just the Republicans.

What will the Republicans talk about?

Pyramids I think...

What do pyramids have to do with politics?

You've got me...

Went to a Haggen today and it was closing today, employees crying. Checked out a Fresh & Easy, sign said closing in 4 days. 50-60% off, still not in my price range.
