Names for Golden Retrievers... or any dogs for that matter

OK, I am hoping that Bea lives a nice long time, but she is already about 13 and had a very hard first 5 years.

A friend in MI has goldens in breeding age and for the last 2 Decembers I just fall for the pics of the puppies. Bea won't tolerate any other dog in the house so I cannot get one (or 2 )now. If they are still breeding in a few years after I no longer have her I think I may want to drive to MI for one or two.

I'd probably want sisters.

My mind already plays games with naming them.

First I thought..
Sanity (as my dogs have been my sanity...grounding me) if I got one.
If I got 2 though???

I had a golden when growing up, named Misty.

I saw one of Daisy's (the friend's golden...momma) puppies on FB and she was named Abby Rose which I thought was pretty

The names Blanche and Rose popped into my mind and cracks me up. On one hand I don't know that I'd want silly names but I keep thinking about that. *will wait for the joke part to sink in


Since dogs are precious to me I thought Sapphire and Ruby.. but it sounds... hmm ehhhhh



What would you name them if you could?

What is it they always say? Ask yourself if you would feel comfortable calling it out in a public park.

But don't listen to me. Unsure All of my animals have first, middle, and last names. I always correct the vet's office, "Oh, his name isn't the same as my last name..."

I had neighbors that ran through a series of Golden Retriever puppies. Like a new one every year and a half. All named Cooper. The guy wanted them for hunting, and I think the lady couldn't handle the mature "dirty" dog and had no patience for animals. Very strange people. I think they gave the dogs to friends, but was never sure. The last one was absolutely gorgeous, though, like a lion. Best looking male Golden I've ever seen.

Only dog I've ever named is my GSD, Hilde. Name selected in advance, but fit her fortunately. If I ever get a male shepherd it will be called Mustapha, Musty for short.

How about Murder and Orient Express. This way at least one gets the "bad park name" and you get the added bonus of when one is humping the other you get to point out Murder on the Orient Express!

But my neck, back and now hip pain is getting so bad I am wondering it I'm getting too decrepit to take on new dogs.. Sadwalk

OMG, when I was a kid I was SO into Aladdin...we got a new dog during that time and I really really really wanted to name her Jasmine but my parents went with Maggie instead.

My brother had a golden named Maggie (laugh out loud one of Bea's dog beds has that name Whistling) Sadly she was the golden that had cancer really bad and had to be let go when she was like 4 Sadwalk

He had a Kelly before Maggie who lived to be like 14 I think.

My parents, I guess, really liked the name Maggie. Before I was born they had two big dogs named Maggie and Farrah. We had a dog named Carly, I always thought that was a cute name.
