We just finished Making a Murderer...it wasnt bad.

What else is really good right now? I'm eyeing The Expanse, but not sure my wife would be able to handle it.

Like anyone in the lounge needs proof that I'm older than most of you, excluding MLV of course.

i completed Justified [imdb.com] a couple weeks ago, and it finished very well after a rocky start. in the first couple seasons, it was a just a better than average serial police procedural set in a different agency (federal marshals), with new characters showing up in each installment for per-episode conflicts. near the end of season two, longer arcs started forming while the focus shifted more toward building a real world/narrative. it became far less of a shoot-'em-up modern cowboy story and introduced impressively complex moral and relational conflicts. by the last couple seasons, it became one of my favorite basic cable dramas ever. between this and Deadwood, i'll watch any TV show that features Timothy Olyphant as a major character (and isn't on a broadcast network).

took a couple weeks to run through Mr. Robot, [imdb.com] and my response was basically "meh." after hearing a lot about it being the breakout hit of last summer (coming out of left field from USA), i found the character interactions frustrating, some of the surrounding subject matter boring or inaccurate (i work in enterprise IT), and the big twist pretty cheap with at least one noticeable hole in a previous episode. i really like the base concept/Elliot character, but the second half of the season felt like season two of True Detective: a showrunner getting high on his own supply too often and indulging in his own vision to the point the show suffered, especially when characters launched into yet another monologue about how democracy is dead and modern life is empty and devoid of true meaning.

my current drama is The Knick, [imdb.com] a period drama about the Knickerbocker hospital in NY at the turn of the 20th century. the pilot was too busy for its own good, but it had a lot to cover in an hour, and as the different characters and subplots have deepened, it's gotten much better. Clive Owen is amazing as a renowned surgeon with a opiate problem (much easier back when it was legal/commonly prescribed) and anchors the setting well, allowing the myriad of other goings-on to rotate around him at various distances. racism and classism are major themes, and even though they are used bluntly at times, it helps to remember it is set less than 40 years after the Civil War and in a nation that mostly still believes in manifest destiny. each episode is getting better and better, and now that's i'm four in, i now genuinely look forward to the next one.

Another great series from Vince Gilligan, creator of the best TV drama Breaking Bad

DH likes Better Call Saul too, it's a spin off of what happens to Saul after the Breaking Bad show ends. I never watched either show.

If you don't mind considering animated series, then I would recommend Venture Bros from Adult Swim(Cartoon Network's nighttime programming block that runs from 8 p.m. til 6 a.m. Mon-Fri and Sun, with a block of anime called Toonami replacing half of that time on Saturday nights).

It's like the old Johnny Quest cartoons, but if JQ was tripping on acid having flashbacks of all his over the top adventures.

The last full season(season 5) is located on THIS page, as are the first SIX episodes of this season. Unfortunately it requires a cable provider log-in to view them I guess since the videos never seem to play for me.

There's also sales on the DVD/Blu-Ray sets on occasion on Amazon or other sites and they're frequently posted on SD if you wanna catch up before watching any of season 6(current season).

I'm pretty sure it's how he becomes who he is before Breaking Bad. Prequelesque.

DH likes both shows, I never watched either one as it was a bit too gory for me. DH kept asking me to watch Breaking Bad with him, so one night I sat down to watch an episode with him and it happened to be the body and the bathtub episode. vomit

I don't watch much TV but when I'm on the treadmill I will flip through channels. The other day I caught a few minutes of Last Man Standing. I guess it's been on for like, 5 years or so but I had never even heard of it.

It's really funny. And if you are anti-Obama, anti-Clinton, Republican, or just conservative, this is the show for you.

I got my husband and youngest son to watch a single episode and they are completely hooked. They're binge-watching it on Netflix now. laugh out loud

HA! Yeah, that's an interesting intro to the show. I haven't watched Saul, but I really did enjoy Breaking Bad.

Isn't that the new Tim Allen show? I didn't even realize it's still on. I usually see bits and pieces of an episode here or there when channel surfing.

Although I'm pretty sure I saw those little bits on TV Land as I was passing that channel by on the way down to the USA Network to watch yet another marathon of NCIS. laugh out loud

Yes, Tim Allen and yes, still on. I think the new episodes are on Friday nights.

It's hilarious. And again, this is coming from someone that stopped watching TV when Friends ended and reality TV took over the airwaves.

We only watch a few things these days since we've cut the cord.

Mostly the Marvel stuff on ABC. Plus, we still do Walking Dead, and have taken quite enthusiastically to The Expanse from SciFi (I still refuse to call it SyFy), so we have to get that one a bit more...creatively.
