I'm sure it's been mentioned and buried but extended warranty benefit goes away next month which sucks
Uhh yeah I have an Amex, this is not true lol
I'm sure citi fought hard in the bidding process to beat Amex to get the Costco account. Part of the terms were probably to offer better benefits for the customer....

Also anyone knows if the premium car rental insurance of this card matches that of Amex?
Nope...
Amex charges $25 for their 'premium' rental insurance every time you rent a car. And the insurance doesn't include Liability Coverage (just vehicle damage)....poor product in my opinion. My regular car insurance covers 'rentals" with Liability.

Well, the way I understand is that Collision and Comprehensive are fully covered for $25, without a deductible - which is big deal, much better than your insurance co. As far a liability goes, it should be covered by your insurance co. with a deductible.
Haven't seen an offer in a while since the $300 Bluecash offer, but I really want to try and keep an Amex open (keeping its account age) and get the Citi with no hard pull. Might be mortgage shopping soon, so I don't want to lose a ~7 year old account.

How about compared to the United Mileageplus which has primary with no per use fee...but does have a $100-ish annual fee?
Are you sure about not having a hard pull on your experian report? I have tried couple of times in last few months and each time they come back to instruct me to open my credit which is frozen, so they definitely want to do a hard pull.

It ultimately resulted in a hard pull. I think I confirmed that later on. O'well.

Although a 7 year old card does factor in your fico score, I really am not sure how much it would make a difference with your mortgage application process. Don't sweat it too much.

You are probably right. My score is around 800 now, so a few points shouldn't matter. Two cards with no hard pull would be a nice play though.

For me, I rather pay one time $25 than have an accident claim with my car insurance. Your rate may go up more than $25 for years to come.
I don't think so, 3% is pretty high on restaurants, and 4% on gas. The cards with rotating categories will beat these for 1/4 of the year, for example Freedom offers 5% on gas right now until April 1, but I don't think there's a 4% yearly gas card for no fee.

If your average car rental is 3 days, that $25 is an extra $8/day (which is LOW compared to anything the rental car company offers.) If you were to rent a car year-round, that's an extra $3000 in insurance you've paid. Just an interesting way to look at what you're paying for. The question is, why you're willing to pay more for premium coverage when renting a car, than you do for your daily car?

The $25 is good for up to 42 consecutive days of one car rental agreement. So you can't really calculate with $8/day for a year. so even if you are going to do 12 monthly rental contract, that's only $300. I don't really rent car all year long and mostly just a trip of 1-2 weeks here and there. it's a great coverage for me.

Because the cost of filing a claim with your insurance company is going to be a lot more than it appears.
File a claim with AMEX, and that's the end of it. No deductible, no jacked up rates for the next couple of years.
File a claim with your insurer, and you're going to be paying out a couple of hundo in deductibles + who knows by how much they'll jack up your premium. The average premium increase after filing a claim is 30%, for several years.
