Firearm owners -- Do you have insurance? (No OT)

2,401 1,703 April 4, 2016 at 03:21 PM in Chat
For those of you that carry concealed or have home defense weapons, do you keep a attorney on stand by in case you have to use your firearm in a self defense situation?

Do you use one of the prepaid/insurance services such as the ACLDN/CCW Safe/Texas Law Shield/US Law Shield/etc..?

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these companies and if some are better than others?

When I researched this a while back, I remember getting frustrated when trying to compare. The coverage seems to vary considerably. The NRA-backed coverage includes one's spouse, for example, but doesn't appear to cover any bail bond. CCW Safe's site clearly shows the amounts for an individual or couple, or for law enforcement. USCCA has 3 tiers, with no mention of spousal coverage being included or how much additional.

I am leaning towards CCW Safe/ACLDN but I agree it is confusing and frustrating to compare.

I am not married nor do I have anyone else in my househould currently so that is a mootpoint, just trying to get the best bang for the buck without paying too much out of pocket, like I said hopefully I'll never have to use my firearm but you never know..

Make sure to ask what is the limit when it comes to lawyer payments and if you can choose your own or must choose from a list. Knew someone who joined a local one and when a lawyer was needed they would only cover $400 of legal expenses.

Damn right I have insurance!

I keep the one below between my toes in case the heat turns up, I'm in a corner, and my horse pistol jams.

My husband keeps bugging the crap out of me about getting CC insurance. The company he wants to go with is USCCA and it's $147 a year for the cheapest level of coverage.

Do any of you have CC insurance and if so, is it worth it?

TIA!

I have my CC permit, but I rarely carry because of my job. I've never held, nor do I care to own, insurance for it. I've never heard a convincing argument to get it.

This was discussed recently here

I still haven't pulled the trigger on insurance...deciding which way to go.

i have Second Call. i live in a very gun-unfriendly location (Portland, OR), and i'm not aware of any other insurance i have that will cover immediate things like bail and attorney's fees as well as smaller things like confiscated firearm replacement. if i had to use my firearm outside my home, it's worth something to me to work with an insurance provider that specializes in such things.

I carry occasionally in Indiana, but I've never heard of such a thing. I guess I can understand the peace of mind for a non gun friendly area, but I just don't see the need. I'd have to do a lot of research and try to track down people that actually have had to use their coverage to see if it's worth it.

I don't have firearm insurance other than the free insurance came with NRA lifetime membership.

Yes. I live in MA. backward retarded butthurt easily offended liberals here always want to punish gun owners. So if you don't get carried by 6, you will be harshly judged by 12 Political cowardness. Get a lawyer before you talk to cops for sure.

I believe some home owner insurances would extend their policies to cover your firearms as well.

Mississippi is extremely gun friendly, almost to the point of ridiculous. I don't think he needs to buy CC insurance but he's really worried about getting sued and us ending up in the poorhouse. Mississippi after all, is known as "the jackpot state" because of all the lawsuits.
