The new phone book's here! The new phone book's here!

Things are going to start happening to me now...

Actually...wtf? seriously, we had a phone book dropped off at our front door today. As in a physical phone book.

So they really do still exist.

And yes, I looked up my name. I'm not in my local phone book; we've lived in this house for 5 years. And we still have a landline (well, through the cable company since it was cheaper to take the home phone service as a bundle than to do without the home phone).

We get them delivered at least once a year here. I think they JUST delivered one maybe a month ago. I came home the one day to find it sitting on the sidewalk in front of our bay window.

Although I will say that in the late 90's I seriously thought about renting a U-Haul truck for a week and hogging all of the routes since at the time the company that was paying people to deliver them was paying $1 a book. That was when gas was $1 a gallon. Now if it's anything like the last time I inquired about it it's dropped all the way to $.20 or less each. fark that. At $1 a book though I would've probably busted the springs, shocks and the rest of the suspension on my car I had at the time just to deliver a shitload of them.

But they also tried giving me a route that would take me 30 minutes just to get to the area to begin delivery. So that made the profit margin far less appealing to me.

They normally deliver them once a year to the apartments where I live, generally left at each front door. Apparently last year we got a lazy delivery person (kid?) and they just left a stack of 50 or so out beside the gate instead of waiting for someone to let them in. I think a few people took one off the stack but most of them sat there a few weeks getting rained on until garbage truck eventually got them. Such a waste, not that I would have ever used mine anyway..

Lol this happened to me recently too. They're basically useless. I couldn't find my contact info or any of my friend's.
