Seattle - I'm going there *UPDATE* #30

31,994 3,053 July 30, 2016 at 09:34 AM in Travel & Vacations
So I'll be in Seattle on Friday. It's a whirlwind tour.

What should I do? Where should I eat? I will likely need to be in a reasonable radius around the airport. Which local brewery should I try?

Yes traffic is always bad in Seattle proper but when you throw in Seafare and the bridges being shut down repeatedly for the Blue Angels, it's always one of the worst traffic weeks for the entire area.

Plus, Friday's weather was absolutely gorgeous. I was told by a local that there are only about 10 such days in Seattle in any given year.

There is also a BBQ restaurant nearby

If I recall correctly they have a wheel they spin every hour and that's the discount they have on the craft beer?
I went to a place called Sharp's Roasthouse [sharpsroasthouse.com] that had a wheel like that. They had some decent craft beers on tap and I had a portobello taco dish that was fabulous.

They also had some tequila that was aged in these small oak barrels that were really good. I got one that they put this spicy pepper in it that gave it a bit of a kick. I'd definitely go back there!

nod The fun part is when Seafair and rain combine after a brief dry spell. The roads get slick from all the oil on them and no one slows down because they are used to driving in the rain but suddenly everyone is crashing and the bridges are shut down. Doh

Did you get to try a Manny's?

I was also told that the locals heavily bribed the weather guessers

I had a Manny's Amber Ale. It wasn't bad at all.

Actually some of the best beer I had this weekend was in Moses Lake at a brewery called Ten Pin [tenpinbrewing.com].

I wanted to get to the Tap Room, but it was already late and I had an early flight on Saturday, so I had to skip it. Sadwalk

If I had known you were doing the loop, I would have recommended a different restaurant, there's a place in North Bend that has wonderful food and great beers on tap.

Honestly, I didn't know myself until about noon on Friday that I had to drive out to Moses Lake. It was a very last minute thing, but I'm glad I got to make the trip and back.

Actually you got it right. I just took a look at the map around the airport. Sharp's Roasthouse is the one I went to.

Big wheel

The Mango restaurant is also right along that road.

I live over in that desert in Kennewick (Tri-Cities)! Moses Lake is about 75 miles north of me. The drive over the pass is pretty going from forest to desert. You got to travel it during a good part of the year, it can be treacherous in the winter months.

I'll have to keep that in mind for times when we take a shopping weekend on the left side!

Have you ever been to The Tipsy Cow in Redmond? Hub and son went there last month when they were on a car buying trip and loved it. I found it on Yelp and it did not disappoint them. They enjoyed humongous burgers and some good beer.

We went there once, not long after it opened. The burgers were really good but pricey, even for Redmond.

There's also a really good Indian (lunch) buffet in Redmond, next time you're looking for food in that area. They have a wide selection of dishes on the lunch buffet.
