I don't think that will be weird at all. Actually that seems like a normal amount to me laugh out loud

I donate my stuff as well. I am in the process of finding a teen mom school/center in my local area to donate all my stuff to. I am donating most of the Pampers wipes to them as well as the Pantene and Razors. I know that when I was a teen mom this kind of stuff really helped me!! I want to donate to where I went to school, but I think the shipping back to MT would kill me laugh out loud Though, we are going home in a couple weeks and I plan on doing some runs there and will give whatever stuff like that to the school I went to.
I am worried that if I ask them to order today that it won't get here on time for the overlap deals next week. I think my stores get their trucks on Thursdays so hopefully I'll be able to get some in.

DH's much younger cousin has been having a hard time - her DH was deployed to Iraq, leaving her with their newborn son. She has had a terrible time with kidney stones, etc making it impossible for her to work, so times are tight. DD and I have been having great fun playing "ding dong ditch" leaving bags of diapers, wipes, and toiletries on her doorstep. It's nice to be able to help out, and teaches my daughter important life lessons. Smilie

And thank you for your thoughts and prayers - I'm a firm believer in the fact that there's a plan for all of us...we just have to trust that this is a change for the better!

Ok, I moved my question over to here for more discussion. I had it in the Deal Talk, but it was in the wrong place. Thanks for any help. I like to get varied opinions on this issue. (if you have already answered me on another board, please disregard.) Wink

I have a question for some of you on this board b/c I am sure some of you have been in this situation being that $ gets tight and all and we all try to save a buck here and there using our coupons. Awhile ago, I loaned some money to someone. They were in a time of need. If I know that they are out spending money now and back on their feet, is it ok to ask them for my $ back? How do I ask them without embarrassing them too much? Sorry for OT, but I know you all would be helpful b/c many of us have been there before. Thanks so much.
My mom always told me "never loan money that you can not afford to get back."

I stop posting in the deals thread also because of all the hate..( I do not even use expireds).

Does anyone have an IRA and can they tell me how I can set one up?

We currently have the following net protection in place:

WinPatrol
Avast
ZoneAlarm (worth its weight in gold)
Spybot

We got a trojan once, just once and DH was over it. So now our PCs are like Fort Knox and we didn't pay a dime for any of them.

BTW, sorry to hear about the $ deal...hopefully the person will make it right. A friendly reminder should do the trick. DH always loans $ but calls it a loss when they don't pay. Let's just say I have decided for him that we can't loan $ out any more. He'll pick up side jobs for friends (he is a plumber) and tell them not to worry about when they pay him. Well you know how that goes. I am sure he has a couple grand out in IOU's.

I just set up one with Wells Fargo (I check/save & have my mortgage with them). I completed the entire process online. Very simple. I transferred $1k to set up the IRA. My employer (very small organization of 3 staff-so can't offer a traditional 401k) doubles every $ I put into it.

I have the 401K already with my job.. I watch the Suze Orman show everyday and it seems to me I need an IRA. Is there a minimun transfer? Do all banks have one. I am with the credit union through my job. I just thought about doing this a few hours ago.

Honestly there is many different types of IRA's.

Yes, banks and credit unions have them. Different financial places offer different programs. You can even have real estate grouped into an IRA.

The main thing is there are many different options. Some can start as low as $1, an act like a savings account, then you can transfer your monies into a certificate of deposit. IRA are different.

Another note. Ask for the difference of a ROTH IRA or a traditional. So many choices.

I was wondering what happened to you.. and others that used to post on a regular basis. I miss all the runs and great postings. Everyone was so helpful to us newbies..

Maybe I'm just not getting it, but I thought we were all here to help each other find and get great deals. I don't understand why anyone posts a hateful reply to some of the posts

I hope all of you come back and start posting again... not all of us are hateful.. hug

Hey there - can you give me a brief description of IRAs? We really need to start being more responsible about things like that. I am torn though because we are trying to pay off some credit cards and improve our credit so that we can buy a house!

Interesting stockpile sale today. Big Grin I was outside at 6:50. By 7:15 I had already made $50! Vince didn't even get a chance to get my signs out until 8:30. My last customer left at noon. So, from 7-noon I made $655. I really thought I would have made closer to $800, but I'm not disappointed. I sold 19 pkgs of diapers, almost all of my Herbal Essence. I sold all of the Pert @ $1.50 and it flew. I sold a TON of H&S @ $1.50. My razors sold pretty well at $2. A few hair color but nothing spectacular (maybe 10 boxes?). I had most of it priced at $1. The P10 @ $2. Baby wash-- gone. All of it.

Disclaimer: Big Grin I'm very pleasant at my garage sales but I do have to turn my back to keep people from seeing me roll my eyes at some of the stuff they do or say.

Get this-- I leave a card table set up beside my chair for people to use to make piles of their stuff. I had one lady pile her stuff up and as I was checking her out and bagging her stuff, she knocked a baby wash on the floor and busted the lid. She picked it up and apologized for busting it, put it aside and grabbed another one leaving me with the busted lid. WTH?

I had another guy (when I had my back turned) squirt a palm full of the Nivea shave gel into his hands. We're talking enough for 5-6 shaves. It's that kind of shave gel that lathers up like crazy as soon as you squirt it. I turn around and this grown man had a HUGE palm full of white shaving cream. I look at him square in the eyeball with this look of "you have GOT to be kidding me." He looks at me with his palms up and gives me this look like "do you have any water, what can I do about this?" I turned around and left him to figure it out. I could have offered him my spigot beside the house, but I was too irritated-- and HOT! It felt like it was 100 degrees outside! I'm in no mood for crap and nonsense! He ended up trying to wipe it off in my grass, which made an even bigger mess for him because DH had just mowed the lawn the day before so he was covered in grass clippings AND shaving cream.

I'm planning 2 runs today, coupons sorted and ready to go. I just took inventory downstairs, need more 3 and 5 pampers big time. Think I will do size 3 today. We'll see, I think hubby and I will split up for a while so I don't torture the baby. There's only so long he can take a target for, and 2 in one day is a lot for him.

Stormy-is the Dora kitchen with the other kitchens? I only see a little tikes one and the generic kmart one

No it was up in the very front of the store by the check outs

On a less silly note. Has anyone here asked their WAGs to order stuff in for a deal? I have 6 WAGs in my area and would love to be able to use ALL my coupons next week. How do you go about asking. There is a lady around here that ordered about 500 of the Crest Pro-Health a few months ago and said that she was "sending it to the troops". She also said that about the Dixie deal a couple weeks ago. UMMM YEAH I'm sure that you are going to send paper plates to Iraq. Maybe the toothpaste but I highly doubt the paper plates. Why not just say that it's a good deal so you're stocking up? I am interested in getting a bunch of the Lamisil next Friday and Saturday during the double dip and would love to also get paid a bunch of money in Shell gas cards to buy it. Any ideas on how to approach this?
I have never ordered from my Wags, I usually have to get their the 1st day if I want something. I only do Wags when there is a money make deal there, I am assuming there is one coming up? I am going to have to go look for it. I use my RR at the Acme (grocery store)

That is too funny! People never cease to amaze me... I totally got a kick out of your description of the man with the shave cream...

It is slow going on the boards today... chit chat is moving much faster than deals. Maybe everyone is over here to avoid being mod alerted Wink

Like kopenney said there are lots of options start checking around. A quick google will get you some good information from trustworthy financial institutes.

Bwaaaaahaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaa! I feel your pain. I would have told that lady what my mom always told her 6 children when shopping. "You break it you buy it, and then I am gonna blister your hind end when we get home."

My last stockpile sale went very well in only 4 hours, but the 4 hours were insanely frustrating. I had ladies asking if I had another scent of lotions, body wash, shampoo, different colors of hair dye...you name it they asked it. I so wanted to say, "Walmart is on the corner of you're & pissing me off'. I bit my tongue. My favorite was when this lady wanted to pay $2 for a brand new product (lets just say P&G) that is about $8-9 in the store. She is haggling in Spanish with DH and he tells me what she said. I LAUGHED OUT LOUD and replied in plain English, "It costs over $8 at Walmart--NO." As I walked away, she then said forget it (in English). I was only asking $4.

My most frustrating moments where when parents didn't give a shite what their kids were doing and they were taking brand new toys out of the boxes. Nono1

DH said no more from the house we'll lug it all to the swap meet.

At least it was better than my sister's last g-sale where she had a lady switching price tags. Brand new only worn 1-2 times beautiful dresses that retail at $40-$60 and the lady changes the tag from $4 to $1. My sister tried to explain it to her, but she played the, "me no speaka the english". She sold her the shite with whatever tags were on it just get her out!

I am due for another sale, the garage is overflowing and this is even after I send friends home with bags and bags of carp!

*disclaimer* for those of you who do not know DH is Mexican and I am in no way shape or form prejudice. It just so happens that the people that were involved in the above stories are Hispanic. I got nothing but heart for everyone...just not stupid people!

I had a yard sale yesterday (first time for me!) and made $550.00! bounce I don't have near the stockpile a lot of you had, and was hoping to make $200 or so. Imagine my surprise when I more than doubled that! Stick Out Tongue My DH and DD were all doubters too - saying people wouldn't pay $2 for shampoo and that I'd better mark everything $.50! They were WRONG!

I put out my AF Salsa as well as all my Planter's - about 10 of each. The salsa was $.50 and the Planter's was $2. One guy came and bought ALL the Planter's, and exclaimed "You can't get it at the store for this!" I'm thinking, "Yes you can - even better is FREE!!" but just smiled at him.

Another guy (I guess guys like to buy FOOD - LOL) came and bought all the salsa. He asked me "Are you an Archer Farms rep or something?" LMAO!!!!!!!! I just said, nope, I just like salsa a lot, and buy it when it's on sale. LMAO

Now DH is VERY encouraging for me to go shopping! Usually he hates it -but he wants me to have a sale every WEEK! I got laid off on June 30th, and he's thinking this will be my new "job"! I think I'd get worn out doing all that shopping!

I opened and split up my Oral B Value packs that we all got last month for $5. I sold each piece for $3 (the brush or the refills) or gave them a deal for 2 for $5. Sold them ALL!

Shampoo was all $2, sold some for 3 for $5. Deodorant and toothpaste all $1 - almost sold out. No one bought any Vive we are getting free this week at RA or Wags this week - Confused. Does Vive suck? Also no one wanted Sure deodorant.

I even sold my Engrave It I bought last week at T for $2.48 to some guy for $5!
