Just have to say - I had a "stockpile" yard sale today and totally rocked out! Got a bit of a late start (for me) due to yucky weather, and actually spent the first 30 minutes ducking in and out of the rain, but my final total was $359. That was selling from 8am until 12 noon. With heavy cloud cover for most of that time. Not too shabby! Going to do it again next Saturday as two friends who wanted to sell stuff, too, weren't able to make it. Shoot, another reason to go shopping?! I'm all over it! Stick Out Tongue

The biggest sellers were toothbrushes (Oral-B, Colgate and GUM), most cleaning products EXCEPT Windex (which I had 35+ bottles and wanted to get rid of most of all!), deodorant, and shampoo. Couldn't get rid of my 35+ boxes of Kleenex, and my wipes moved SO SLOWLY! At $3/package!

I could not believe the amount of cash people carried to go yard-saling - we had 2 different people hand us $100 dollar bills for their purchase... And at least 3 different people had $50+ purchases, all being the h&b items and cleaning supplies. Crazy!!!

One thing I wished I had stocked more of - mens toiletry items. I will definitely have to scour the deals this week for mens deodorant, shampoo, body wash, etc. Oh, and will definitely have to score some Fusion razors! We always do really well with those, priced at $5/each.

Anyway, hope you all had a great Saturday, and if you're like me, you need to get some sleep so you can be ready to shop ALL THE DEALS this week! Big Grin Wink
We had an impromptu yard sale today too - from about 9 to 11:30 and only made $199, but I'm happy. Dh couldn't keep prices straight and sold a few things for less than I wanted but definitely more than I paid for them so it's all good. We weren't very organized but I can never seem to get him to commit ahead of time.

Did you break open the packs of wipes to sell?? I was thinking if you are selling the big 3 pack for $3 and people aren't buying, just break open a few packs and see if they'll buy 'em for $1 each. That way you get to enter gtg codes too! I didn't try to sell any of the wipes we've been getting today but I had a few food lion soft packs of wipes (40 ct) and a few of the hard travel cases and they all sold for $0.50 with no problems.

As for mens stuff, I think I forgot to post this on the thread but yesterday I found a value pack of 2 axe deodorants with a small body spray included for $3.48 on clearance and it worked perfectly with the $3 shirt peelie from the other axe sets.

I called the dr tonight about Soph, she developed pustules on the back of her throat and her tongue and was started getting fussier. They think it is hand, foot & mouth disease, so nit a huge deal. Just have to give extra TLC and watch for increased pain, dehydration or vomiting. So I will nurse my babe back to health all while being sick myself Wink Isn't that the way we momma's always do it laugh out loud For Soph I found this V.Smile TV Learning System [amazon.com] for $12.98 and a blue clues game to go with it for $5.72. I figure I can save this stuff until she is closer to 3 years old to give her, though I haven't researched this toy yet and it may still go back.
hug I hope you and Sophie are feeling better soon!

As for the V-smile. I bought it for my kids for Christmas. Ds is 6 and DD is 4. They both like it. I bought the cartridges on Black Friday for $10. We could use some more, but they only had one on clearance at T yesterday

**** For those of you buying Thomas the train stuff, I think you have enough to build a train set from your place to every corner of the US of A and back. EEK! Now, you want to buy MORE?
Teehee Teehee I remember one of my first PM's to someone in the deals thread was Doublesided and I was asking about the Thomas q she was using. She told me about the etq and how many Thomas toys she had stockpiled. I almost :thud:
Quote from doublesided :
DM-tick was in DH for at least 4 hours and was in there pretty good. Not to be a pessimist but when we get the quest slip back, it will be positive. We've both had it before here too from this stupid house, deer roam free
hug At least he found it early enough and not days or months later when it can do alot of harm.
Quote from flugette :
Day out with Thomas is AWESOME! We brought our kids in June to Lancaster County, PA, and my son still remembers. He will turn 3 August 20. It obviously made a huge impression on him. Big Grin The only problem is it was blazing hot - our train was at 9:45, and by 10:20 (after our ride and buzzing through the tents), we were ready to go. We definitely got our money's worth, and would absolutely do it again. Seeing their faces when they first realize its Thomas the train in real life is priceless. nod

That is where we've gone to see Thomas the past 2 years! It is ALWAYS so stinkin hot that week. This year we didn't make it in June, but he will be back in September and December so we'll be going one of those times. Probably September, so hopefully it won't be as hot!

Great job on your stockpile sale!!! I'm still trying to have one of those, plus get rid of all the old toys. I'd really like to be able to walk in my garage again. Summer will be over before I get the chance. Embarrassment

Just wanted to have a little chat about stockpiling. I saw (gatorcenter's?) photos over in the main thread... that looked like she had Waaayyyyy more stuff than a family my size could ever use before it went bad. Now maybe a family of 10 could use it all...

Anyway, I even see myself accumulating too much stuff... more stuff than we'll use before it expires. I'm trying to give it away... but every closet and shelf in my house is bursting. So how do you know when enough is enough... and how do you quit... I really don't think I can?!? I need a CA (couponers annonymous). I feel like I'm completely obsessed right now.

My DH appreciates the savings (even with over-spending in the gas part of our budget we're still under for the year overall... as I just started seriously couponing at the very end of last year... and we make our annual budget based off of the previous year's sending)... but even he's complaining about all the space this "stuff" is taking up.

Anyway, any tips or ideas??? I'm seriously considering having a garage sale next month. I've already made charitable donations... and plan to do more of those...

I wonder about that too...Is this another form of addiction for reallaugh out loud Or is it greed? Or maybe insecurity, like we have to buy all we can because we may not get the deal again..Maybe it's just fun because it's a challenge..Maybe a little bit of all of it. I first give to my family, then I donate, then I sell. I have friends and family who gift me with coupons from time to time so I always give them some of what I get with the q's they give me. With all of that, my spare room looks like a drugstore warehouse!

I prioritize what is worthwhile to me to stockpile. Sobe, Powerade, Aquafina, & Dasani are worthwhile stuff, right???? woot

Then, I figure in the stuff that my family and friends will use. They would rather get the items from me than buy them at Sam's Club or Costco.

As our friend pointed out, instead of "buying", she is "helping me" out with extra spending $$ for the kids. It is a nice way of wording it and I'm not "selling" those stuff to her. Wink

I really want to set up a table at our community garage sale, but DH is not up for the idea of carting the stuff there and back. We have deers for neighbors, so I won't get much traffic there... Frown

definitely worthwile, for me Sobe, Dasani and Vitamin water are essentials. I am addicted and I am so afraid I will actually have to buy them one day EEK! I put two in the freezer at work in the morning, and by lunch they are just so icy cold and refreshing..like slushes yummy

For sure if you could talk DH into helping you get the stuff there, you wouldn't have very much to bring home, except alot of cash!

I'm 'coaching' a student intern a work, so when she goes back to school this fall, she can sell this stuff and make some money. In college, everyone is watching pennies and this will be perfect for her and the kids who buy from her because they will be saving money too!

It's harder now to load up the stuff for a long-distance garage sale. He just spent 1 week putting up 5 shelves (for his tools & my stockpiles) and we neatly organized all the items in their places on the shelves. laugh out loud

Target needs to send their people to my basement for out-of-stock items. Rofl2

She is doing ok right now. Her ankle where the infection is, is still draining and was slightly swollen today. Swelling is one of the signs she needs to watch for with the infection getting worse. We're hoping the swelling was just from her not having it elevated as much today as prior days. She was out of bed and sitting in the chair alot this morning and had it elevated, but not as high as if she is in the bed. They put a picc line in her arm so she can get her antibiotics (for the next 6 weeks) at home, and we're hoping she will get released Monday or Tues. Then she's back in, in 6 weeks to have this rod removed.

Thank you for asking. hug

The swelling worries me, you pay close attention to that. My mom kept saying she thought it was fine because she didn't want to go back to the hospital. I was checking up on her over the phone because she is so far away. It wasn't fine at all. My sister went over and ended up taking her back, it was a lot worse by then after just a day and a half. Infections can really move fast and that is scary. hug Pray

I agree on the necessities of Powerade, SoBe, Dasani etc. We all should really have a year suppy of such things, just in case, we gotta have enough to make it to the next sale! laugh out loud

Sounds like she is getting good care. I've never heard of a rod w/ antibiotic. Hope she continues to get better and heal quickly.
