Jen-or you can call during business hours or ask next time you see him for him to write an RX for it but you won't fill it until you need it. Then when you fill it, you'll have to ask him for another one. This way he knows you're not abusing it and you get what you need when you need it

OK. Gotta give some serious heart to NCMommy! She gave me an envelope of the best q's!!! Lots of goodies. Favorites were the 2 hangtags for $2 off beef/chicken and 3 PANTENES!!! Got to do 2 final pantene deals today with the sale prices, so my ocd (obsessive couponing disorder) is appeased! Have one final 5/25 q that I'll probably save and see if another good pantene deal comes along. Seems likely doesn't it considering we've had 3 now since april?
No way! All the heart goes to you! My son LOVES the hot wheels shoes you got us, wants to wear them all the time and I still can't believe you found that play-doh for $1.18!!!! I just wish you would have taken some cash for that stuff too!!

So, I'm kind of upset at our neighbors and I don't know if I should be. We've had two yard sales since we've lived here and both times they were having a yard sale at the same time as well. The first time we had been talking about having one and when when we saw they were having one, we decided to go ahead and do it. 2nd time, last weekend, we were setting ours up first, although I know they planned it ahead of time because they had signs up. So last weekend the girl and I were talking about doing it again this weekend. I said I could advertise on craigslist and we'd do it all in one yard and just have different colored blankets. There was another neighbor lady we talked about doing it with. Anyway, I told her if she wanted to do it, just let me know and I'd post ads to craigslist. She came by this week but just to invite us to some presentation to the business her and her husband do. So Saturday I open my door to get the paper and what do I see?? The two neighbor ladies with their different colored blankets in the neighbors yard having a yard sale without me. Frown They didn't say anything, just "Hi." but it made me sad/mad. I mean every yard sale I end up giving her shampoo and body wash and her daughter toys and drinks for either what I paid or for free. I am pretty sure the reason she did it is because when we have had yard sales before, I get way more people at mine and probably make 10x as much since she is just selling used clothes and stuff but I have always told people when they are shopping at my yard sale that they should go check her stuff out too and I figured if we held it together, it would bring more people to look at her stuff too.

Oh well, I'm too sensitive I guess.

i think the worst part is he was a very active person and did quite well with a construction business. Obviously that's all impossible for him to do now and he dislikes not being able to work and it def. affects his self-image and self-esteem. I try to be as patient and sympathetic as possible, but sometimes it's hard b/c he will have really good days and you forget the really bad days. And a lot of other people don't really understand it. They look at him and don't see anything wrong with him....so why isn't he working bla bla bla.
I'm a non practicing doc (long story) and I used to see lots of patients like your DH. Back injuries causing _severe_ pain, but yet they were "guilty" until proven to have a real problem. Another case of a few people trying to defraud the system ruining it for those who are on the level. I also saw how much it impacted people to not be able to work, take of their families, or even be able to take care of their activities of daily living. I'm sorry that you guys are going through this and I just wanted to send big hug hug hug your way!

It's nice to see there are people that DO understand! We really thought once we got the insurance for him and they did the mri and found the problem (and they found ALOT) that was the beginning of the end, but we had to go and seek out a specialist b/c his doctor told him to just take walks if it was bothering him. We have now had two other doctors tell us that, that is the worst possible thing he could do.

On a more positive note b/c all this talk is bringing me down hehe I finally got all my q's organized and put in my organizer!!! yay for me!!!

You know, I was never a fan of socialized medicine but in scenarios like this--and hey I'm pimping out the chat thread for diabetes stuff, you can see where the free care would be nice. Not trying to start anything but we spent over $6K to have our kid and I'm not even going to tell you what it will cost to take care of DS this year. That's after paying our insurance premiums of course.

Insurance is there for a reason but there are so many different plans and most people don't understand it doesn't pay for everything. If I hear one more time from my family--"why won't your insurance pay for that" I'm going to hurt them. They are teachers and are used to getting everything for under $10

Just saw your question... yes and no. Yes, because it is important to not spend all of your time laying down. Your muscles will just atrophy as will your cardio-vascular system. But at the same time, any "weight bearing" activities that you do will likely put pressure on that nerve that is being pinched. Better physical activities than walking would be either swimming (or walking in the pool) or biking (either stationary or on the roads). These have lower impact than walking and won't cause as much pain. This isn't something that he will just be able to "tough it out" through the pain, unfortunately. If he is in a lot of pain, one good thing to try is a position that will put his spine in the most "neutral" position. Have him lay down flat on the ground and then prop his legs up (under his calves) with either a chair, coffee table, or a lot of pillows. The goal is to get his hips at a 90 degree angle and his knees at a 90 degree angle (this is called the "90-90 position). This should help take some of the pressure off his pinched nerve. 15 minutes in this position and he should feel better for a bit of time - great one to get him into if he is in a lot of pain...

Hope this is helpful... Feel free to post (or PM) me any more questions - I have a decent amt of experience in this area...

Jenn, has he tried naproxen daily? (Which I think is just aleve, but I took a higher dose). Before I had my youngest, they were going to do surgery on my back for my back problems. I was taking naproxen daily and the pain had pretty much gone away as long as I took it religiously. Miraculously after getting pregnant, I was absolutely fine throughout my pregnancy and only recently have I started having pain again, but not to the point it was before. Oh, and I got differing opinions on walking and exercising making it better or worse as well.

"taking it religiously" - that is the key. If you are taking anti inflammatories (or have them as an Rx), most people only take them when they feel pain. The key is to take them as directed. It takes time to build up a level of them in your blood stream that will be most effective. If you take them as directed, you will get much more benefit than taking it just when you feel pain!

OMG don't get me started!LMAO I have such a problem with medicine for profit. I have a HUGE problem with the drug companies advertising on TV, hoping that we will all go run to our docs and ask for their drugs. Then they give you the side effects and the senior citizens are all afraid to take their meds because of the side effects mentioned on the commercials! There are too many families who are suffering because of chronic medical problems and the bills that go along w/ them. And it never fails. You have to be either low income to get help, or rich to be able to afford the bills. But the middle class suffers the most because they always make too much for programs, but the bills put them in financial difficulties. Where I work is 'socialized' medicine in a manner of speaking. But it works and it works well. Contrary to popular belief, the system I work for is a model for private hospitals across the country. Everyone should be able to have access to good medical care at an affordable price. Insurance is a rip off. Congress finally passed a bill forbidding insurance companies to mandate drive through mastectomies. Can you imagine having cancer, then having to have a mastectomy and come home the same day to take care of your own wounds? Thank God someone stopped that trend by the ins companies! It's crazy, just crazy. No one, especially our children and our seniors should have to suffer because of medical bills. Healthcare for profit is just against my morals.
Now, I'll get off my Soap Box

Lets see, there was tampons, then toilets, now medicine...whats tomorrow?LMAO

no, they don't and to be honest there probably isn't an easy answer. Thats why we help each other. When my son's bills were in the tens of thousands people helped. We were young and had lost a child and had one in the hospital. We didn't know what to do or how to pay, and people helped and that sustained us. It might have been dinner left on the doorstep, or a check in the mail...but we made it and so we pay it forward however we can, because thats what I think we are supposed to do. So until our government can figure out a way to help people with insurmountable medical costs, then it's up to us to help each other...back on the Soap Box again...someone slap melaugh out loud

There are quite a few of us on the board that work for insurance companies. A lot of policies are driven by industry standards and what medicare does/doesn't cover. If the government set higher standards, the industry may have to follow. But they don't.

Well I guess it's time to add me to the list of pregnant ones. We just found out a few days ago. Gonna be #4 for us. And just when I thought I was almost out of diapers. I'll get the 2 1/2 year old out of diapers in time for the new one to be born. So now I'm on the look out for some great diaper deals so I can start my stock pile. I'm not due til April so I have awhile to get ready. Well as ready as you can be I guess.
Congratulations!!

What does Pretzels use? I noticed HeatherLst used a notebook with baseball card sleeves for hers...I really like that, but don't know if I'd keep it up. Usually, I just date the front of my inserts and keep them like that. I clip as I go...but I always seem to have stacks of clipped coupons everywhere anyway...
I use the notebook with baseball card sleeves and sleeves for 4 x 6 photes. The phote sleeves are nice because they hold the larger q's. I like this system because I can see each coupon when flipping through the pages. With the accordian style, I was always fliping through coupons searching for say, the kelloggs q's that were mixed in with all the other cereal q's.

No matter what system you use, keeping up with it is key. I have not done that lately, and I have coupons ALL over the place. It's a mess and makes for planning a big run take forever.

I just found a tearpad in Publix for $2.50 off 1 2pk of smucker's magic shell, or 2 bottles of magic shell. 551500414847. Can't seem to find out much about it. Wonder if it would work on strawberry jam magic shell.

Also found some 1.00 off 2 jars sugar free smuckers spreads. Anyone know if I can use it like the 1.00/3 tuna q's?
I'm sure it will work like any of the $/xx q's do.

No slapping from me. I agree 100% with everything you've said. It's a shame when people in this country have to go thousands and thousands of dollars into debt just so they can treat a disease and try to be healthy!

Good Luck to all those trying to get pregnant and Congratulations to all those that are!!
