Groupon quietly closed my extra accounts, took away my groupon bucks and unused groupons

Guys, please feel free to move this to the appropriate forums. It is just an announcement and I only post when I have serious complaints that I would like to share/warn you. I don't care about thumb up/down or left/right Smilie

I just found out that Groupon quietly closed several of my extra groupon accounts. They did not contact me in advance to arrange a proper closure or transfer/refund of my remaining groupon bucks or unused groupon vouchers. Luckily I have a full records of these and I contacted them and got a surprised response from their manager. Apparently, they thought that I did not have a records of my used vouchers or my buck balance and they did not mention these if the vouchers have not been printed/viewed/downloaded. Maybe they hoped I forgot them all.

This is problem is ongoing, but I think it is a business fraud that they did not inform their customers and simply stole their customer's money (by not mentioning remaining bucks and unused unprinted/unviewed groupon vouchers). I wonder if someone can start a law suit regarding this. I will be all in and I believe most of us have multiple accounts and are victims. Please share your ideas.

Thank you for sharing. Creating multiple Groupon accounts is clearly against Groupon's terms of use.

The following is an excerpt from Groupon's terms of use, located here [groupon.com]:
Quote :
All interactions on the Site must comply with these Terms of Use. To the extent your conduct, in our sole discretion, restricts or inhibits any other user from using or enjoying any part of the Site, we may limit or terminate your privileges on the Site and seek other remedies, including, without limitation, cancellation of your account or forfeiture of any forms of unredeemed value in your account.

The following activities are prohibited on the Site and constitute violations of these Terms of Use:
Submitting any content to the Site that:
  • Is purposely inaccurate, commits fraud or falsifies information in connection with your Groupon account or to create multiple Groupon accounts

Lol... because I only know this place/forum as I come here just to get deals, not to share. I know... my bad... to complicated or too busy share deals and receive criticisms... = another bad.

What if I lost access to my oldest email account and contacting groupon customer service to reset password would require 2-3 hour on hold or weeks of email reply? Can I create a new account with the same names quickly to buy sth? Was their system built to trap people and then stole away those bucks and unused groupon vouchers? They should deny creating another account at the first place, don't they?

Your example may make sense, but I'm not associated with Groupon and am not a legal expert. Groupon may not close an account if it's something along the lines of this example, whereas they may have closed "several of [your] extra groupon accounts" for other reasons.

I am sorry to hear that you may have lost some money and/or vouchers. Although I lack legal expertise, I do not think taking legal actions in this situation would prove fruitful.

Just ran into this. Old account used to purchase *one* deal years ago. Created a new account to buy *one* deal with new email. Groupon blocked my IP address for 4-5 days after a cryptic message about payment failing i.e. implying my card was denied not because I already had an account.
