What's the nicest thing a complete stranger has done for you? (for free?)

Question
DW, the kids and I were at a local restaurant tonight - just a normal night with the kids. The couple behind us left (middle-aged, not necessarily old) and said "you have a beautiful family, you're very blessed" on the way out. We thanked them for the compliment and thought that was it.
About 5 min later, well after the couple left, 2 waitresses came over saying that the couple had paid our bill in full including tip and assumed we had known them. They were amazed that a complete stranger would buy a meal for someone else; it was probably worth about $60 if I had to guess.
I've had people buy me coffee in line @ DD before (few $$) but this was far and above those.

Also, I was once given a free First Class upgrade on a flight from BOS to LAX. I proceeded to do what I always do, approach the counter and ask as nicely as possible if there were any available emergency exit row seats. There weren't any on this particular flight so the agent apologized and I was very kind about the whole thing. After all, they are helping me out by checking. Right before we boarded, the same agent came over and said, "You were so friendly and polite while asking, I thought I would give you some new seats" and we were in the front row of first class! We ended up on the plane for almost 2 hours before taking off as well, not sure why but it was a nice flight considering I get quite a bit of anxiety on airplanes.
what about that reach around you did to that homeless guy?

I had to turn around but, dammit jim, I'm an eningeer not a truck driver. Every little turn of the wheel that I made only made things worse. I was damn near backed into a fence and the car was about to pop off the hitch. Some guy was watching me from a balcony having a smoke and a hearty laugh and offered to help. Came down and got me out of the jam. My car had to come off and get back on to be straightened (but it blew the rear main seal the friggin night before)...by pushing it back up. The guy was a champ and I offered him money for the help but he refused.
Seriously if nobody helped me, I'd probably still be in that parking lot or on the run from having to burn the truck to the ground, hoping to start a new life in costa rica
doin good things for random people feels good man. I'd rather give money directly to people who need/deserve it than to a charity where most of it gets wasted anyway, even if there is a tax break.
People pretty much always hold the door for folks around here
My husband and I paid for a family's dinner once because the kids were so awesome and helping the wait staff with cleaning up.
