All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

what kind of strips do you use? I am sure you have several meters right???
be sure to call the meter company each month & get your 5 or so sent for being a good customer. ; )
One touch ultra mini. We have a bunch of other meters to try but that's the one we've been using loyally. Once we're done with those strips, we are going to try the freestyle flash but I anticipate we will stick with ultra mini as it links to the animas ping pump and that's the favorite of the ones we researched. but we haven't met with the pump vendors yet.

my best friend's son is now 6 and has been on the pump since he was 3. He has done wonderfully! He is now calculating his own carbs, etc. for school after she writes all his numbers on his food packaging. I'm sure you already know about The Family Resource Network but just in case. http://www.diabetes.org/for-paren...etwork.jsp She has volunteered with the organization for years and counseled other newly diagnosed families. I think she met with other 'pump' families when he was getting his pump.

Have to share this with everyone-
At work, those in my immediate office know about my 'hobby'. Don't necessarily want to coupon, but don't make fun of me either. Came back last week from a Target PopTart run, and one of them said that I should keep some at my desk for a snack. She said she would even pay for them. So now, we have a snack box, and 4-5 gals pay .25 for pop, poptarts and RKT. Good deal all around. I can use the extra few $ to buy more coupons for the next deal!
That is great!!! I wish it was that way at my work! nod but nope, now more drama, not even about Q's, and I am sooo done with the crap! Sick of catty women! vomit

hug to both of you. We are right now dealing with a gigantic sexual harassment (well, it's not harassment really since all parties were apparently willing) scandal involving a female professor, many female graduate students and an S&M website where they all worked together. shake head You wouldn't believe how tense it is here.

Oh well-- luckily I know it's just my job (a job I love and that's important to me) but still, I have a life outside of here.

Hey thanks. There aren't many support groups in our area but I've been frantically making connections the past few days so I can get some pump/CGM feedback. That just gave me another number to call!

hug Thanks dear! Now that is some crazy stuff!!!

I think what you said about a life outside of your job is important. I have not really had that lately, since it is hard while working nights! I can not remember the last time I hung out with friends! I am going to make that a new priority for myself! It is so easy for me to lay around in my PJ's after I wake up and not really want to do anything, but I am going to make myself, I think it would help put things in a better perspective! Thanks

You know it still hurts like hell. Usually 3rd day isn't as bad. And it's raining so hard here no way I'm going out. So slapping on my 7.50 eucerin every so often and noxema a couple of hours before the shower (makes me sneeze so can't keep it on too long)

thx for asking

Yep..now that is one meter that has come a lonnggg way. I remember the old model that was the size of a brick..strips were super large & you needed a huge drop of blood in order for it to work. thank goodness for those advancements.
In doing my seminars, etc...I talk to many Drs, endocrinolgist, pharmacist, etc & they all say the same thing... the cost of these supplies goes up daily and most ppl that have it are lower income. It is sad that when you take X shots day( I now take 2 but have taken as many as 4) that the amount of insulin you use is sometimes lowered in fear that you can't afford to buy more putting yourself at risk. I know ppl that use their syringes more than once for that reason too. It is a very costly disease.
I have researched pumps in the past but have been told by a few companies that I am better off with shots due to many issues....including how long I have had diabetes. My body is already use to certain methods & a vast change could trigger unfriendly results. I will be looking at another one soon as it may be more for me. I know lots of kids and adults that do well with theirs and a few others that do not. I work with several teens that go thru a huge denial phase & creates more headache for everyone around them even more for themselves.
It takes a lot of getting used to but with the right support, it is super easy & you will understand that life will not be slowed by this. I know a family that their baby was diagnosed at 6mons....hard to swallow but honestly easier than they thought. It is really tough to tell a child that is used to eating whatever they want/whenever that they now have to change, switch....that's what is hard esp for parents.
