All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! I do FSA and it saves me loads of money. .
We have one of those debit card things for our FSA, which is awesome. No submitting receipts at all.
However, if the plan is employer funded (MRSA), then they can control it how they wish. At that point, it's not a true FSA, because the deductions are not coming out of your paycheck
The amount of your election is available to you on the first day of the plan year (which can be different from employer to employer). If you incur an expense on the first day of the plan year, the employer is required to reimburse you the entire amount of your expense, up to your annual election. Even though you have not had any money withheld from your paychecks.
There is also a HSA, which is a little different. You must have a high deductible health plan in order to set up a HSA. The amount you contribute is pretaxed but that will roll over from year to year.
Hope that answers some of your questions. PM me if you have more specific questions. I have been dealing with FSAs as part of my insurance group for more than 10 years.
:snip:
NIce to know you are here, Kholt, I may be asking some questions of you in the future.
my trade list never looked so pretty
some viva peelies on ziploc containers
some have found hefty TQ on pop secret popcorn
People have also mentioned the $1 off Softsoap MQ, free Chinet dessert plates.
Gotta get to bed! Going to try to drag the kids with me to 2 Harris Teeters tomorrow, do two runs at each store. Not all my Qs have come in, so 3 of the runs will be very quick, the fourth is thrown together from Qs I already had and can use. I hate having to bring the little ones with me, 'specially since we were out all this morning shopping, but this weekend is crazy busy for us and there may not be time in the evenings. Anybody else get mommy guilt when it comes to shopping with little ones? Little ones being toddlers...
Oh well. Deals are deals, and there are things I NEED to get, so must just suck it up, I suppose.

So is anyone else getting the free coffee smoothie at Smoothie King today? I'm going to try it - it doesn't really sound right, but I'm assuming it will taste something more like a shake than a smoothie. I'll give it a whirl.
I met an SD'r who was posting here and lives close to me and we have been great friends since. We shop at least once a week together, watch each others kids and hang out too.
I have had all of you be so nice to me, esp with my kitty and in general.
I have gotten several pm's about helping my mom. I am ready to share her story here.
My mom and little sister (she is 9 now) moved to Florida about 5-6 yrs ago. She was living in a trailer when teh 3 hurricanes hit the coast that year. Her trailer was a total loss and they lost everything except what they could pack in the car. Her boyfriend, who is my sisters dad is a farm worker and my mom was cleaning houses.
Here comes the stupid part, my mom out of desperation, stole a credit card and went shopping. She was caught, and sent to jail for 3 years. She missed 3 years of my sisters growing up, and there was a lot of problems w me and her over her choice. She served almost her 3 yr sentence. Well she has always had anxiety and deprssion problems and they are really bad right now. She tried to find a job, but who wants to hire someone w really no experience, and has been convicted of theft. She never greaduated high school, she was pregnant w me. She stayed home or worked side cleaning jobs my whole life, so no real eexpience.
So she cant get a job anywhere. Her boyfriend is a migrant farm worker. I do their taxes for them and they make 6,000 a year, thats it. I pay more than that in taxes. She is living the bare minimum, in a broken down 1 bedroom trailer, that her boyfriends work owns. If he were to lose his job they would have nothing. They have been eating spaghetti a lot, and hitting up the food banks to survive. I mail her a package every month w toiletries, razors, toothbrushes and that kind of stuff.
I feel bad for my sister, she is only 9 (haha I am 35), and has to live like this. I do what I can, but my Mom has made a lot of stupid choices that put her where she is today.
When I go down, I am bringing the baby in hopes it cheers her up. Plus my Aunt lives down there too and is in end stage colon cancer. So they will see the baby. I will grocery shop w coupons to load her up as well. She just doesnt understand how to save money and spend it wisely. So I will at least be able to load them up. I am also trying ot get the resteraunt gc's so I can take them out for dinner too. I saved up all my Target gc's from Kashi and others to do some clothes shopping for my sister too.
This will be a vacation for Ryan and I as well. We are staying w my Aunt and Uncle from my Dad's side and they have never met the baby either. We are going to Disney (thanks to anepu) and the beach.
I am looking forward to it!
So I just wanted to thank everyone for sharing their runs and deals, sharing coupons, and most of all sharing friendship.
Told you it was mushy

It is wonderful that you are not judging her and her choices, and are helping her out. I coupon more as a hobby then a necessity, but is a good reminder that many people even in our country survive with so little.
Please, please post a list of items that you would like to shop for, and we will flood you with enough coupons where your Mom can start her own foodbank!!

I need to go get dressed and grade a billion quizzes before class today, but your story just made me tear up again. Easy enough to do normally, but now that I'm pregnant, pretty much happens every day.
I am glad that you get to see your mom (I am sure she is glad too) - and hope you and the little guy have a blast at Disney.

I am good on q's right now, will have to look when the trip gets closer, and can look at her ads and such. At the very least she can have some appetizers, lol
Oh and by the way, I am totally suprising her.She never goes anywhere, so I knwo she will be around. I just plan on calling her from outside and asking what she is up to and ringing the doorbell, and letting her go answer it, and the baby and I will be out front. She will be so excited!
